Great report and photos. I've never explored central Montana. Always gone to around Glacier. May have to change that. Thanks for showing what I've been missing.

Wobbly One, you make my heart ache for home. I've been away form Montana for a number of years, but always looking for a reason to come back.. I'll have quite the supply of vacation hours to use once the pandemic has loosened its grip on us all. Thank you, sir, I'm enjoying every photo.

Thanks much bomose - central Montana is off most people's radar. Quite different than the western part of the state.

Thanks for the kind words Belgradian. It looks like you have probably spent a bit of time in these areas.

Great report and photos Wobbly One. I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for all this Covid Crap to get sorted out so we can travel some more. I think you just added central Montana to my traveling list.

"So it takes me about a millisecond to realize that my 16 year old brain has somehow gotten my 60 year old body into a pretty tough spot."
    Hey, I resemble that remark!

    Cheers, Wayne

Well thanks Wayne. I hope your travels take you here soon. Ha! I guess we need to work on the 16/60 year old disconnect. The morning mirror does it's best to remind me.

Loved this report @wobbly one! My daughter and family live near the Highwood Mountains and I have taken to spending time with them once or twice a year, though usually in the winter. I have driven out a couple of times and passed through the area your report covered and always wished I had more time to explore. Maybe on my next visit, with TW in tow.

There are many of these rural ferries in Alberta and British Columbia. They exist in lieu of roads and bridges as needed for local traffic. The ones I’ve encounter are thus free. You may have to wait a few minutes but there’s a call box to get the “captain” in action if he’s inside his hut enjoying coffee. These exist where nobody is in a hurry.

Thanks wildknits. I have not spent any time in the Highwoods yet - hopefully next summer. You better lash that TW to your rig and get out here. Well, maybe wait 10 months until the snow melts...

I suppose, if a couple 600+ mile days just to get there isn't "that far". ;) But seriously, I've been telling my wife that WY and MT are definitely next up. I've done CO, UT, and NM several times, but am ready to get up your way when I have the opportunity to take sufficient time off to do a trip like that justice. "Unfortunately" your report has broadened the areas I would have typically thought to visit...

Heck, it only time and money, right? And a few fill ups on a GSA. Sorry about the broadening scope of travel thing. :bubba

Great report Wobbly. Your photos and discourse provide a great description of the area and makes one homesick to return home. Thanks for sharing.
