I'll be riding in Miami Trails area clearing trees off the trails with a couple of riders from the Stewards of the Sierra National Forest, come join us. Ready to ride at 9am at the Kamook staging area. All help is appreciated.

SO ... mark your calendars. September 28th will be a full moon and it will be the first annual ride N camp / Howl at the moon, Shuteye shindig...

Keepin it local this first time to see how it goes. Maybe a full blown event next year. Its hard to find a weekend full moon actually.

seems Miami is a bit ride-able especially after the hard work done by the stewards last weekend.

I work up there and whiskey/007 side with friends all year long in fact I am tuning up a new small saw this week. The FS sawers permit has held me back working directly with you guys I need to do also, Usually I go off on my own on the stewards work days farther in back. I hyper extended my knee riding in baja two weeks ago and have some mobility issues.

The Stewards will be very pleased to have you up with us when you get healed up. Not everyone is a certified sawyer though. It's not required to help. But if you want to be all you must do is take the class when it's offered. I'm not a sawyer. What with a broken hip held together with titanium screws and rods, two torn rotator cuffs, two fractured vertebra, and arthritis in both hands I'd be wreck by the time I got home if I was a sawyer. Saws aren't for me. I take pictures and mark map locations to document the cuts to meet state grant requirements and assist moving the debris and logs out of the way.
A big shout out to HypnoRider who joined the motos last Saturday for the first time. He's not a sawyer either. His help was greatly appreciated and I'm sure he would say it was a hard and rewarding day.

I did a solo ride & camp Saturday & Sunday. Clovis to Pine ridge for gas then Petersen to Big creek rd & down to Pine flat. I went on down to millflat camp on the Kings River looking for a friend in a van down by the river :D No luck so over to Balch camp & up Sycamore springs rd to Dinkey-Trimmer & tried to get to Oak Flat campground which was a bust. The forest looks like a hurricane hit it trees down everywhere on every rd. So back to Nutmeg saddle & down to Big Creek where I put out my hammock & chilled for a bit. It was too early to make camp so I went and played around on the blue canyon trails until about 6 then set up camp next to rush creek.

Woke up the next morning & took soaproot saddle to big creek & back around the lake. The rush creek crossing was pretty deep..the ole muffler under water sound had me worried for a sec but no problem getting across. I jumped off & pulled the air box drain, and luckily not a drop came out :D....Then going home around the lake some youngins thought they were fast in their chevy tahoe on spoked 20's. I showed them what a DR650 coupled with an unhealthy amount of fearlessness is all about :lol3:lol3
