With an actual dirt bike it's possible but the dirt is talcum powder at that bend, I took three tries at making it past that first big hump there and couldn't make it, but I've also got 17 inch rims and a only 6 inches of ground clearance

I bottomed out all three tries, each time worse then the time before 20191011_183036.jpg 20191011_183031.jpg
Luckily my center stand and side stand mount took the brunt of it

That section of the trail is no joke! You definitely need a skid plate if you are going to try that again. I decided to take the 1290 SAR and didn't make it much further than your picture. I decided not to take any more chances and turned around right here. I only had plugs for punctures, and didn't like how my front wheel was bouncing off the sharp rocks. Definitely headed back with the 500 EXC next time.

Glad you made it out at least and yes even with you having better ground clearance and larger tires I still think it would be hard, not a good idea by yourself, in case you get hurt it bust your bike.

I walked up the hill from there and it looks like if you could just get past that section then the rest is easier, if only we had tools and man power to smooth that out a bit

Shuteye is definitely more of a dirtbike or big thumper (DR650, XR650, etc.) type of ride. That spot where you guys made it to in the pics is the very beginning...about 3 more miles to the top from there....and a lot more rocks, rock ledges, and loose silty uphill climbs.:ricky

This is Shuteye, from start to finish, on my DR650 7 years ago

I rode just a few miles south of there yesterday in the whiskey falls area. The fall colors are here!

Dang it! We did a bunch of awesome single track in the whiskey falls area again.....I was checking this thread probably up until Thursday, but it was all crickets LOL. When you mentioned that you had a 500 in an earlier post I was thinking that you definitely need to head up to the single track mecca with us :thumb

There should still be time to get more riding in up there this year...a little rain would be nice too!! :raindance

I'll post up next time we are headed that way...

Headed up for a rematch with Shuteye Peak. Then I'm going to make my way over to Whisky Falls area if I have time. If someone was looking for this Pucker Rock, might there be GPS coordinates available?

I'm riding this weekend if anyone cares to join. Will be on the KTM450 so little bike ride. DRs welcome if you aren't afraid to thrash it. Prolly stage at the flume and ride most of Whiskey. Haven't ridden serious dirt in a while so I'll probably pass on the Shuteye Goat Trail.

Thanks! I did get around to the whiskey area, but mostly stuck to the forestry roads. I did find some marked single-track though and definitely need to explore the area more. Looking at the vehicular travel map, looks like that entire area is open to OHV. If there's time before the snow I might come back with my son who has a CRF250X.
