Just getting some gear together, going to pack as light as possible but still have all I need. The days are crawling by, will fly by while in India I'm sure. Looking forward to an amazing trip, seeing my fellow ADV riders in New Delhi.:clap

I am heading over there in July (7-27) doing the classic delhi-manali-leh-srinigar etc route.

Awaiting your RR for more excitement.

From Australia, we can get a 6 month visa only - unlike your 10 yr visa!.

The year/multi-year starts to get very expensive.

RR will start when the date gets closer.

Myself and three friends are flying into Delhi on the 11th of July for three weeks of riding. Will be spending the first couple of days organizing hiring of the Royal Enfields, which is where we are hoping Chanderjeet will help us.

I'm sure I missed it somewhere here .... but what are you doing for a bike?
Can't imagine how I could miss something like that:lol3

    Buying, renting, borrowing? Pushing? Buses/Trains?

What bike is considered the "best" over all these days for touring India?
I know about Enfields but I have heard of some other locally made bikes that
are good too. (more modern?) Japanese bikes?

Enfields never go out of touring fashion.

Hero Honda Karizma is a Champ. Probably the best tourer bike in india.

Thanks for ALL your valuable input on the many India threads. I've been reading up and am very grateful for all the great information and the fabulous ride reports provided by yourself and other Indian ADV'ers.
