Hey guys, chasing some route advice from locals for a 4 day trip from Melbourne. Want to head to Jindabyne from Lakes Entrance and from there back to Bright. I've sorted my return ride from Bright around Mt.Buffalo back to Buller and then Melbourne.

I'd like to spend as much of this as possible on dirt, does anyone have any recommendations for the 3 days from Lakes Entrance --> Jindabyne --> Bright?

I am on a DRZ400E and would like to avoid too gnarly stuff, dont want to spend the trip changing tubes out

    Cheers.

There isn't too much dirt between Jindabyne and Bright without going back down the Barry Way, which you more than likely would have just come up, and then head west on the Limestone rd to Benambra. The tar from hear to Bright is a great ride though, with the odd dirty bit to play on.

The first ktm rally did Bright to Jindabyne.
All good stuff, but overnight at Dinner Plains. Could be edited.

The tracks from Tom Groggin can be a bit gnarly, not sure what condition they are in at the moment.

Didn't do the easy route on the rally, but apparently some really enjoyable riding.
    This avoided the gnarly stuff.

Head inland from LE and loop around to Orbost, then variations on Yalmy Rd or Errinundra to Bombala and across to Jindy avoids the Barry Way and Mckillops with lots of good riding. I have gpx.

Hmmm. Geehi track that comes out at the Khancoban pondage isn’t too gnarly, at least it wasn’t 2 years ago in an LC. Dunno how deep the river is at the farm atm, you can cross further back. Some good tar as Woody says. Benambra/Corryong rd is fun, cut off at Lake Omeo and head to Anglers Rest/Blue Duck, then BHP road Falls to Mt Beauty, or miss that and take the Shelley rd, River rd (NSW side, it’s all dirt) across on the ferry at Wymah then either Granya gap or George’s ck rd (dirt) then Yabba rd to Mitta, then Trappers gap to Mt Beauty. Or more adventurous, take Callaghan’s ck rd off Yabba to the lookout on Mt Benambra above Dartmouth, caution steep from lookout down to Dart rd, then to Mitta. Or, or, or.......

When is this trip happening? On second thoughts the Geehi Walls FT, Greg Greg FT route could tickle your fancy, I might even tag along.

If you are out that way, why not pay a visit to Mt Pinnibar, the highest point accessible by vehicle in Australia?
