I'm going to check timing, valves, carb will get thrown in the sonic cleaner. It turns over just fine, has plenty of compression, and just from audible kicking I don't hear anything clunking or rattling around. Suppose I'll just pop the head and cylinder off and check for up/down play on the rod and the small end bearing.

Picked this up today from Craigslist, for 1/10th the price of admission into this thread. Running, driving, with a clean title. Doesn't run great, the right mirror is broken off and the right passenger footrest is missing.

All the plastics not pictured are in a box with a bag of new hardware. Not sure what I'll do with it.

I don't think I could've said "no" to that deal if it came up near me. :clap

    Three options that I see.
    1) Fix and Flip
    2) Strip the fairing and ride it if you like the naked look that was an option, if not see option 1
    3) Fix it and do a reverse fly and ride.

I get to join the club! Picked up this '87 K75 with 56k miles on it. Just snuck under the wire at $1500 but it runs great and after putting nearly 500 miles on it the only issue is that the tach won't go past 3000 RPM.

check and see if the needle has bent down and is catching the face...ive never seen it happen on a bike, but...i see no reason why it cant, either way if you want to fix it youll just have to open it up

Great deal. Congrats. Living near NYC makes it tough to find cheap bikes...

Pretty sure I posted when I bought the initial carcass that became this Cheap Bike Challenge success story but this started out as a $75 pickup load of JR50 parts, now it's once again a kid's first bike.

I'm in Kansas, but I'm going to add that to my list of things to take a week off work for.
