That’s got to be the only Guzzi in all of West Virginia! Nice looking bike.

You can take the country boy out of WV, but you can never get the Country Roads, out of his head!

You summed up what I have been saying. When I ride my V7, I know I'm riding a motorcycle given how high you sit on it. I also agree on the V7 seat being pretty bad, but not stock DR650 bad. I usually change the seat on my motorcycles, but I really haven't had a need to on the V85TT. The only complaint that I have heard is the bump pad, and that is dependent on your height, it doesn't really bother me.

I don't have the decal pop, but I also haven't removed the cat. I noticed some surging when I first purchased mine, but I don't really notice it now. May have just been some hypersensitivity on my part. I'll try to remember to pay attention next time I ride it. You could put it in rain mode and see if you still feel the surging as rain mode should dampen the user throttle input. It might help determine if it's you or the map. Supposedly, a new map is available, but I would have expected they would have updated it before selling it to you, but maybe not.

Nice view and bike! You have it set up very good.

I sat on one just like it a last year before I bought the V7. It was a left over with a great price, but it sold the next day. I really liked how it sat and remember the seat felt really comfortable.

I have been looking at the Moto Guzzi V85 TT as a possible bike. It will be interesting to see your thoughts after you have put several thousand miles on this bike. I just did an overnight ride in West Virginia last Wednesday and Thursday. I spent the night in Buckhannon. I left there and took 20 south. What a nice road. WV is a wonderful place to ride.

I can't wait to take her out again. The poor DR is going to have another lower mileage year probably, but I still like it best for some of the rougher things I do.

Hard to beat any part of WV for riding...if you like curves that is. Rt 20 is a nice road!

A wonderful 220 miles today. Rt26 from Marietta OH to Rt800 is a roller coaster with nice views all along the way. I found this nice covered bridge with an interesting story. From Woodsfield I just went South on Rt800 to get on the North end of Rt16 in St Mary's WV. Then back to the house across Rt31 and Cisco road. There are quite a few more roads up here that I will be trying out this year and I will be traveling Rt26 again. :ricky

The V85 continues to impress. I added a Woodcraft toe extender for the shifter and got it dialed in. Then I started to increase the front fork stiffness and I have it about where I want it to minimize brake dive without giving up too much compliance. Cisco road is a good test for this. :D After over 5 hours, I actually felt really good when I made it home. On the V7, I would have had a little back ache and been somewhat fatigued from the vibration. I could have ridden for a few more hours without any issues today.

I had to stop and adjust my fleece pull over sleeves inside my jacket. It was 40F for the first hour or so.

Really digging the SW-Motec Sysbags. I can run just this one when there is no chance of rain. It will hold all my tools, water, etc and still had room to stow more if it warms up and I start removing some gear. When it looks like rain, I add two Sys10 bags to this Sys15 and I can carry all my rain gear with room to spare. Then on top of that set up, I can put the Sys30 trunk which I plan to use on overnight trips. Easy on and off and all of them have internal dry bags.

Great roads "over there" in SE Ohio.

BTDT several times, and hope to repeat until I get it right. :D

When you mentioned riding Rt 26 from Marrietta I thought "I've ridden that a couple of times. I wonder if we took any of the same pictures?" So I searched my ride reports.

Well guess what? From 1998. Me standing by my Sv650.

This was in 2012 also on RT26 but it looks like a different bridge. I think I took this pic from the other side of the bridge but it still looks like another bridge. Are there two covered bridges on 26?
Edit: I googled it and its just off 26 on 34

There is a lot of great riding in that area:ricky:ricky

That is too cool. Looks like we have all been there. :thumb I do think I noticed a sign to another covered bridge, but I was in the zone...:ricky I actually missed a turn, so instead of hitting more of the roads in this area I took Rt800 South which wasn't a bad thing it was all good!

You could spend at least two days riding between I77 and Rt800. It will take me 3. :D

I didn't notice as much surging today. Either the bike is breaking in or my wrist is calibrating... maybe a little bit of both.

The seat is really comfortable too. I have been looking for someone to just fill the divot from the seat bump pad and make a new cover, but everyone is booked up for months. Terry's Custom seats replied he is booked thru August! I may have to do the foam work myself and have someone just make a cover or just sew the bump pad logo onto the existing cover... I still have a few feelers out, so maybe there is someone not completely booked up.

I went back and took the turn I missed last time on Rt26. This time I stopped at the Hune covered bridge and a few other places along the way thru Lower Salem and Lowell. Rt530 into Lowell...what a hoot! :D Two more rides and it will be time for the first service. Might happen by next week! :ricky

Only 160 miles today. The 2nd shot has to be taken in an hour. I went down Tail of the Skunk (Rt36) this morning with zero traffic, onto Rt16 South then cross country down some rough paved roads to Sissonville. :D The V85TT continues to impress. I went over double the speed on that "cross country" road as I did the V7 last year. :ricky

250 miles today and the V85 is ready for the first service at 950 miles now. What a nice day. 52-76F. I was shedding clothes every stop, but there weren't many due to the length of the ride. To Spencer then Tail of the Skunk to Clay. Next, across my favorite road to Birch River and then up to Cedar Creek State Park. Almost zero traffic on all the curvy sections.

    Chet,

Upon sober (well, mostly :augie) reflection and consideration of your numerous trips on great roads, in always fine weather, and on a new Moto Guzzi, I have come to realize that I really don't like you very much. :D

    Seriously, great stuff.

Motor over to the Moto Grappa sometime. :clap

My goal is to come in the July-Aug-Sept time frame. My wife is having a knee replacement in early May and it has thrown off all our camping trips. Hopefully, I will make it down to see Josh in Maggie Valley too. Our first trip once she feels up to walking is a visit to the Biltmore and Wheels thru Time.

Finished the 1000 mile break in maintenance on the V85. Good for 5000 more miles now.

Planning on taking the DR out this weekend. :D Hitting some new roads between Elizabeth and Spencer.
