I going to head east to pick up a bike this weekend. If the temps don't get any better, I won't fly in and ride it back. Anybody have a suggestion for a trailer? I'm meeting the seller in Utica, NY to pick it up. I'm thinking U-Haul or something similar. If anyone has local experience, let me know. Thanks, Larry

    Larry:

I have a two place all aluminum trailer but it is snowed in under neath my deck. If you could wait until the snow melts, I would have no problem with you using it.

I talked to a guy who picked up a Harley last weekend with a U-Haul. He was able to use it but it did not have any place to tie the bike down to. He ended up using the side rails on the U-Haul, but was very nervous about the bike tipping over.

What kind of bike did you get?

2003 BMW F650 GS Dakar. Read about it on this forum and bought it from FreeThe Beast. If all goes well I'll pick it up this weekend.

    Random Thoughts for the day:

Chain is kind of partial to the F650. (especially when he gets towed by the KLR)
Skinner talked me out of one, and into the XR400. Now I have a lot more work to do than you to get it road ready. Glad to have you as part of the thumper crowd.
    Fireman needs a thumper.

    Good day all,

Lip say's he has a lot of to do to his new xr400. What he means is he will be drinking beer whilst I work on it.

Let's see, it's in my garage, I've got the tools, don't know how to use them but we'll get it done!

He's got the baja designs kit sitting next to it on the floor of my garage, ready to go!

Left arm yes, right arm no worky, can use my hand but can not lift or move it or anything like that. It needs to stay motionless in the shoulder area to allow healing of the bones.

he likes it so much he can watch it all day. We should have taken some pics tonight as we got the XR pulled apart and started the reassembly. Skinner didn't realize that he was dealing with someone that has not done much work on a bike, and what little I have done was 20 years ago.

It's really kind of new, fresh and fun. Skinner said he would have to follow up and tell everyone that I was doing most of the work, and spilling the beer.

Skadamo is the King!!! He loaned me his bike trailer last night and I'm on my way to New York this afternoon. I should have FreeThe Beast's Dakar in tow Saturday afternoon and be headed back to Lake County. Wish me luck!

:rofl That's exactly right. The T rex arm, hand grab but don't move the shoulder move, good for holding a beer but not for drinking it!I spent most of last night finding and picking up little screws that lip keeps dropping on the floor. I think he wanted me to feel usefull.

Or did you get snowed in? We got pounded, and they got it worse out East.
