Great day out in the sun yesterday,Tuesday. No threat of rain. The West Side is as lush and green as it will get so we headed there,West Side probably needs it's own thread like @Hop sing says.
4 of us met at 10 AM and headed out with no more plan then eating at Nancy's place in Elk Creek. We got over there and headed up Rd 313/Hull Rd to check on snow level and trailriding conditions. Conditions are prime we made it to over 5000' with no snow but wet dirt is plentiful. The fancy BMW along with us couldnt get up Hull Rd so he waited in Elk Creek.
We ended up being up that way for almost a couple hours exploring possible new trails and some lookouts. Then on to lunch, met some folks and BS'd a while then they bought all 4 of us lunch as they paid their bill, with out saying a word to us,salt of the earth out that way.

We headed south and took road 401 another prime dirt road, its called,I think, DSCF2827.JPG DSCF2833.JPG DSCF2832.JPG DSCF2836.JPG Rail Canyon rd on the south end. Then headed inland and by the time we got to Maxwell the wind was trying to blow us off the bikes. We abandoned a ride around the Buttes and headed into the wind and back home. Great 185 mile day out and the 300's will be heading to Hull Rd very soon.

............................The River is UP. Big releases going on upstream. We watched a guy almost get his truck too far off the pavement in deep water.
He was churning mud for a moment and would have been flat screwed if he had sunk it in silt. His advice to us when he came by? Dont do what he just did.

Its a pretty long section of water he's driving through. We also watched a river otter swimming down the road, which was neat. DSCF2821.JPG DSCF2837.JPG DSCF2825.JPG DSCF2829.JPG

The 9-5 keeps me off the 701 Enduro M-F, but some weekend I would be up to tagging along towards the MNF. I haven't been out that way for awhile. This weekend though I will be riding my new toy. I need to loose the winter IPA weight.

The truck in water is right next to or rather in the Sac River,on outskirts of Chico.

It's a '19 Giant Trance 3. 140mm rear, 150mm front travel. They call it a tail bike. Some OURY lock on grips and a Serfas RX seat tops off the package. It is a blast to ride!

I only wish there were more good mt bike trails around Chico, DSCF2736.JPG Once you've seen every rock in the Park a 100 times its time to move on.

^ I agree on the local trails. This is my first full suspension bike, and I really haven't ridden them in about a decade, so it will be good for quite awhile. I have never ridden Downieville, but will be riding it later this year! Cant wait to bust that cherry. :sweeti

Near Quincy is a new Motorcycle/Mt Bike riding area,we rode 60 miles on dirtbikes and met Mt bikers who were riding it as a downhill starting at 7200' and heading down.

There's another 25 miles that are Mt bike only Im told.
And more will be built there by the Sutter Buttes guys. Mt Hough is the place, it can be googled......................Graeagle has a shuttle and trails starting near it for Mt bikes.
Forest City has,I believe,a newer trail that heads down towards Downieville. Guys are talking about longer trails joining other trailheads together up in this area.

Matlock Loop, It was cross-able here but I remember that a lot of the "road" is actually "creek" and wasn't sure how deep it would have gotten.
