This is a great thread, love reading and seeing your pics. Please don’t let the rats run you off, their not worth it.

Instead of being a place where the rules are loosened so people can blow off some steam (or whatever the original motivation for its creation), it turns into a magnet for the worst in everyone. Shitty cheerleading of gladiatorial trashing of people, with lots of dogpiling because it's fun to be a dick - sums up much of what I've glimpsed there. The same has happened to every forum I've seen with similar oversight, such that it is.

From what I've seen, the general climate allowed in the rest of ADVrider is open enough that I don't believe anything positive coming from a place like the Basement (and there are positive threads) couldn't already be discussed anywhere else, as long as everyone reined in their inner douchebag. ADVrider already allows multiple users to share a private discussion, so if you want to say mean things about each other's mothers and worse, it could be done there, sparing everyone else the derp.

I pity anyone tasked with herding that lot. Better to shut it down, but I don't run this place.

Same happened with a thread I enjoyed by Fast Ferris. Really sucks because his thread was really good.

I texted Brian the other day. Yes he was sent to "camp" for a few days, but after that it may be self imposed. He's pretty pissed off. I tried to cool him down and explained what y'all are saying here, the quality of the thread speaks for itself.

Tried urging him to let the other shit go and keep us updated on the Monkey, 701 & HD.

Time will tell I guess.

Thanks for the update Sam. I hope he decides to come back. This is a great thread. I can understand his aggravation. I occasionally peek into CSM and I always regret it. It's a nasty place.
