    Used the finger dab method.

Case halves together and it is time to wait.

    The rest is easy.

One screw up though. I did have the countershaft seal and I pressed it in too far and the inner lip rolled out.

I'll need to get a new one and of course pry out the screwed up one.

    This is what I did:

Well, sorry @lookatdirt, there will be a wait unfortunately. That countershaft seal I messed up is going to take some time for the new one to arrive. 7 to 10 days to ship.

    Oh well.

Time to get the exhaust set up with an O2 bung.

ARacer got here today but that is a quick install so I'll wait to put that in.

The question I have is, should I finish assembling the engine before the countershaft seal has been repaired and no crud has entered the engine or put it all together and then do the repair hoping nothing goes wrong?

Me? I take a ziptie of a somewhat appropriate width and cut off the pointy end. Gives me a flat blade to coat with and it's fairly flexible, but not too.

    That is a good idea.

I found these weird wide serving toothpick/skewer things my wife has. Clipped a flat end and was going to use that.

Then I found the video about finger dabbing and it worked great.

I bought a bag of popsicle sticks many years ago for such occasions. Great for mixing two part epoxies, silicon seal, etc.

Checked my emailed receipt from RMATV and April 20th for that seal. The seal isn't torn, just flipped. I'm thinking pull the case halves, push it out some, then reseal it.

3 weeks is too long if that seal is still good.

After following this thread for over a year, I’ve decided to take a little road trip to Las Vegas and do a week’s riding at the end of May. What areas do you guys suggest?

That you try to come before the end of May. Should be pretty freaking hot by then. Especially if you’re thinking about riding off road.

    Truth spoken!

I just went through this with my Helix parts.

I ordered through RMATV and it was gunna be weeks to get the stuff. Went to the local Honda dealer, had the stuff in two days.

Another good one is to use the end of a cotter pin, bent appropriately. Also, 16d framing nails.

I hate our Honda Dealers so I always order the parts from known good rep shops.

That sounds better than 3 weeks though.

hating the dealers is one thing, but the parts departments usually are alright.

Looks like I'm about a week out waiting on a new seal.

I'll prep everything else in the meantime.

I'm guessing that was done at a muffler shop.

Take it to a good machine shop and try again.

I've been underwhelmed with muffler shop welders. There are some good ones, but good luck finding one.

A machine shop that does welding will cost more, but they should also be able to TIG that bung into place without it looking like burnt peanut butter.

I still want another option as they slagged up the header. I'm going to run this just to get it going but I'll definitely be on the lookout for another option.

Would like a custom option but that would be..$$$
