    Uhhhh. That looks like shit.

If you can’t find a better welder there, I got a guy here. You can ship me the pipe and I’ll ship it back same day

my muffler dude is an animal with a tig torch. He’d have made that look factory. Though once run, the impurities coming outta the pipe are hard to keep from bubbling thru.

sucks to see that on your new pipe.

Is it worth having them knock off the bung and welding a new one on?

You know I'm not afraid of a drive.

I also had them tig the silencer to the header so it isn't floppy so it isn't what I'd consider 'shippable".

i don’t know how that can be saved without scalping off the old bung, maybe tig on a patch cut out from another piece of tubing and laid over the hole and tig’d on (could be done nicely lookin with a little shape etc) and then welding in the new bung.

might find a real weldor up there that can run over that mess with a tig torch and see if they can make it look better.

My motto is ... if at first you don't succeed, keep on screwing things up until you eventually find something that works! [IMG] [IMG]

That's right up there with my other motto: If it ain't broke, I can break it.[IMG]

.......and in my case it's just pay someone to do it right. I would save a lot of money and time if I just gave my 'projects' to someone else. YMMV as you are incredibly mechanical.

I don't want to spend too much on a repair when it could go to a new system.

I'd like some more ground clearance for one thing.

I'll still run it to get going again but it will most likely be replaced.

yeah. I’d suppose a repair would probably break into the 3 figure range. Bout an hours labor, plus a new stainless bung.

could always scalp the muffler off your current system, and maybe the flange and first bend of the header and make a new system in between.

Looks like 2 different metals stainless pipe mild steel bung and if the pipe was run on the bike you would have to clean the carbon and what ever else would be inside other wise a tig would pull it out into the weld and look about the same just smaller

if the guy woulda used a stainless wire, or even just had skill..... might have been discolored, but wouldn't look like that.

the impurities are the real bitch here, theres no way to stop that without having the piece dipped/electro polished to remove the soot.

but you know this, i know this...... brian is learning this.

I'm just surprised that they made no attempt to clean it up. It still wouldn't be pretty, but a little careful time with a flap disc would be an improvement.

Still, the Monkey Man has a baseline for the next attempt, so it's not a complete loss. "When you're done, will it look better than this?"

I hear you. Some days you just see it. Got a little taller. Saying new big words. Pick her up and she feels heavier. Feels like a year ago I was squeezing boogers out of her nose.
