What camera are you using Brian? I just got some new, and new to me gear, but I went the cheap route. One of the cameras that I got is a Sony HDR CX-240 (new in box for $79 cheap). Not 4K, but it will work for my adventure videos. My new toys will give me some other options for my ride reports. Now, I just have to get out there and do it!
Well, now that things will be opening up starting Wednesday, and the face diaper restrictions will be gone, maybe we will be able to go out to eat more often. I did pick up a couple of action cameras. One has the 170º view (that I don't like), the other has 3 settings, wide, medium and narrow, so I'll see how they turn out. They are both cheaper than a Go Pro, so if they break, no big loss. The video cam is only 1080p, but it has image stabilization and optical zoom, so I can use it to walk around locations and get some video as well as the usual still shots. I just can't see taking my Nikon DSLR and all the lenses out on rides. I've got some stuff planned, so it won't be long.
Brian, I know you have owned a TW200 and a Vanvan. How do either of those compare to the Monkey in the kind of trail in the above video? Imu
Yeah, riding places are more scarce around here. I lived in AZ for about 25 years, so I had lots of riding and shooting in the open spaces, BLM land, etc. I do miss that part, but juniper allergies were starting to kill me (literally). That plus my past problems made me want a change. I rode a lot in AZ, CA, NM, UT & NV. Lots of fun places to ride and explore. I really liked checking out ghost towns. Not as much of that kind of riding here, but in a way it adds to the challenge. I have to work harder at making my reports interesting for y'all.
Hey Chillis, Haven't been keeping up as of late. But the Monkey certainly seems like a great catch. As usual, really enjoying your pictures and descriptions. So, what of the FXDR? Haven't seen her on here lately. Finally warming up here in Cackalacky. Trees are blooming out, maybe a good sign. Soon enuf we'll be bitching 'bout the heat.
One of the action cameras is the Apeman A-100. It has the 3 angle settings. The other one is a cheaper ($30) camera with the single setting. I'll have to play around with them to see what I like, and what I don't. I'm thinking of using the cheaper camera on the handlebars, and the other on a chest rig. The camcorders will be for walking around and exploring, or stopping to get a shot that might need zooming in on. Then, there's the drone . . . .
I love this thread. It’s so interesting, just in the mechanical sense! Some of it is a little over my head, but I grasp enough of it to follow along. That said, I’m bouncing my stock monkey over the same terrain you are, and having fun. If I do anything, it will be suspension, for sure. Right now, I’m keeping my eye on gas prices. The stage is set for them to rise to new highs. If the price of gas spikes, I’m putting a big goofy basket on it and using it for all my errands! How many capable modes of transportation get 100 (+) mpg? The only bad thing about the Monkey is the crowds it attracts wherever you park it! Rock on, Brian. Killer thread.
Cannot hit the like button on this one. Chillis I enjoy your contributions across several threads. Hope you don't go away. Like others have said just stay out of there. I think I have learned that lesson. Edit: didn't notice how far I was behind on this thread. Please ignore my beating of a dead horse.
Brian... I just figured out how to make a pannable video with my GoPro 360 MAX where the viewer can drag whatever perspective they want... Drawbacks; even though I uploaded a 5.6K video, the quality degraded once I uploaded to youtube. Also it takes takes about a hour for a one minute video to upload in 5.6K AND youtube takes about two hours to process the video with all that info... I'll keep playing with the settings for a good compromise in speed vs. quality... I'll try 1080p HD next time... click and drag for a different view...
haha. I watched your video for about 30 of the 40 seconds wondering why (he = you) is just recording off to the side. D'oh! Yeah, I re-watched it so I could mousemove the video around.
Whereabouts are you posting instead please mate? btw my wife and I both watch and enjoy your youtube content, you've got some fantastic areas to enjoy your bikes :) #justsaying stay safe
Hahaha touché, I was referring to you I’m saving the Monkey seat time for when I’m too old to ride a normal size bike
The way I see it now I can handle these bigger bikes when I get older and weaker and can’t lift these the monkey and other mini motos will be my new enjoyment and closer to the ground when I fall. Plus they say as you get older you get shorter so it’s proportional
I rewatched the video after I saw your post. I did not even know you could do that. Dang, now I need such a camera. Imu
