Sure, i remember, nice to have met you, too. We'll have to talk some cooking next time. lol

Yeah, sort of looked like a DR(Z) convention, but all the bikes played nicely together.

Hey All - New to ADV Rider community, and this is my first post (not sure whether this is the right approach). I live in Cincy, and have a 2019 Africa Twin DCT. I’m 42 and have been riding for about a year, almost entirely on the street. I’m looking for some new ways to increase my skills, and maybe start doing some beginner off roading (e.g., classes, group rides, etc.). Does anyone have thoughts on possible options? Thank you for your help?

Welcome to the group and nice choice of bike!

Unfortunately, our monthly dinners have fizzled out the last couple of years (we need to get those going again...). You can meet riders of different interests at the Comet Bar bike night though. Sometimes guys post day rides you could join also. A good (easy) gravel road destination is Shawnee State Park.

If you have a GPS (or phone) that can follow tracks, several of us can share our tracks of Shawnee, southern Indiana, etc.

    Bob

    Hey, Bob,

Thank you for your response. I do have an iPhone and would really appreciate if you or someone else could share with me the exact location(s) of the gravel trails at Shawnee. Also, please let me know if you all do a group ride and don’t mind having a newbie trail along. Thanks again!

Another (long term street rider, but relative off-road) newb here on an 890R based in NKY. I'd love any tracks available - import to Garmin Zumo.
    Would love group rides also.

Here's a collection of Shawnee tracks. Most sections are easy gravel roads but a few of those lines may get "interesting". You can always turn around...

This is a good track that incorporates some of Shawnee and goes north on narrow rural roads to Rocky Fork. "George's Ride"

I have a Scorpion helmet that's been in a bag on a shelf for awhile. Maybe worn a few times. Let me check on the date - it may be too old.

    Just checked. It's an EXO-700, mfg 5/08, size M.

We are very fortunate to have the financial means to enjoy the beautiful hills of eastern Kentucky by motorcycle. The KAT and Red Bird Crest trail pass through areas of extreme poverty. Some locals don't even have access to clean water! Please consider donating to the Red Bird Mission & Red Bird Clinic to help those less fortunate as a way to show our appreciation for their sharing their homeland with us.

TOMORROW (Tuesday, May 11) WE CAN DOUBLE OUR DONATIONS on kygivesday! Click here: kygives.org/redbird

Lora and I got out for some miles yesterday. Ran some tracks up to Yankee Town and Brownsville to check out “Dewee’s overpass”. Another nice lil write up by history in your own backyard 40375F10-50A2-4212-B7B4-6D0C3D40363F.jpeg 9CE86066-36B2-46B5-BDA1-08726702BB3A.jpeg 2C0F5545-7B16-48F6-93D9-AFA3C4DF9759.jpeg She said this is where the sidewalk ends...

Dropped the Indiana photo tag just across the boarder today. Tag was in Brookville so I rode the Brookville-Cambridge tracks up to get it. E344D391-3295-4D85-8971-96F58026896F.jpeg B18A561C-7FA6-4333-925B-3B23934D3A04.jpeg
Stopped off for some insanely good doughnuts and checked out the Union School (1893). The half -court line in the school’s basketball court is the actual state boarder! In a town split by the Ohio/Indiana boarder it has had its share of community complications do to the boarder issues...fire dept, taxes, schools ect...especially when the time zones were different between the states. I had planned to move the next tag to this location, but when I pulled up to the Bell there was a mowing service that had a truck and trailer parked in front of it. So I didn't even stop.
