Just putting away my gear and tidying up for winter.
My Garmin Montana claims a top speed of 226kph.
Now, I know where that ‘might’ have happened, and there were definitely extenuating circumstances.. ahem. Where that might have happened. Might. Mind.
it certainly didn’t happen near the Nighthawk USA turn and up the hill. The corvette convertible was passed. Yes I glanced at her.

    Do delete.

I clear incriminating data twice a day during rides. It can be used against you....

I doubt it could be used. In court.

Ya I use Oruxmaps on a dedicated Android as a GPS when I need it when I look at the stats screen I sometimes wonder what ascent speed of 941.41 m/h actually means but IMO the other info is accurate.

I also use a separate dedicated Android running a speedo app when I'm riding on the street which IMO is very accurate.

Otherwise, riding FAST on the street is fun, just do it in the right place, don't kill yourself or anyone else or actually get a speeding ticket :)

Looks like it has extrapolated your RATE of ascent/descent to a per hour configuration. Elevation accuracy is a little more sketchy with standard GPS, but still pretty remarkable if enough satellites are in view.
That 226 km/hr is pretty fast, takes some horses to pull that off. Apparently my 1250 bandit was good for 220 up the Cut in N Van, but struggled a bit with that. It is reported that my little BMW 800cc twin tops at 195 and that the increase becomes glacial somewhere around 175. The 'vette takes the win!

It could be that the GPS lost satellite signal for a spell, that results in some "nice" max speeds.

Take it on a flight with you and turn it on while flying. Then you'll have a 500mph top speed logged. :lol3

I read on here somewhere the French Gendarmes can look at your GPS and book you accordingly. A 500 mph speed would be an interesting fine.

I recognize that corner! Might be on four wheels when I take it tomorrow. Depends on how fast I take it I guess!

GPS data can be downloaded and may be entered as evidence, similar to car/truck “black box” data captured just prior to a collision. This is a very likely scenario if you are involved in a serious motor vehicle collision and speed is believed to be a factor.

My GPS showed some unrealistic top speed around 600 km/hr. I thought it was pretty cool but erased it without taking a picture. Those second generation dodge rams haul ass!! hehe
