Hey Todd, I’m going to ride the Beemer. I’m not optimistic about Maple Springs, but I’ll ride with you to the gate if you’re going afterwards. I’ll try to get to the event around 10.

that's one thing i like about KTM, they let people touch and ride their shiny bikes. in one of their rallies, i test rode a 690SM and since we have a ride leader setting the pace, i didn't get the chance to put it on 5th gear. still, that is an amazing bike.

you guys have fun and pics please.

No test rides for me. Got there at 10 and there was already more than a 2 hour wait to ride. I had to ride on this beautiful day.

Great seeing you Big E. Looks like you got a good ride in after all.

Re the 1290, super smooth bike but I thought it felt really small. Your pics show why:-)

There was lots of snow in the shady parts of Ortega. Tried South Main Divide but gate locked less than 10 miles in. Just finished the Murrieta to Carlsbad ride from mororcycleroads.com. Very scenic and fun. Lots of water crossings on DeLuz Rd.

Got there too late, there were no demos available

Drove to Maple Springs and the gate was closed, as expected.

Trabuco Creek Road (the main county road) was open, and the washed out part was sort of reconnected

    and easily passable

certain sections were more washed out than usual

and they really made efforts to close off any off-roading from the main/county road

Anyone been up there lately? I met a guy from norway up there. We talked for like half an hour about living life. The awesome dude ran a company, had 3 kids, lived in OC and said the CNF was pretty awesome. The trails would be a 8/10 back home. Considering Back home is 2 feet of snow.

I dont think ive ever heard of the orange county side gate being open. Maybe when i was a kid? Ive heard stories about old timers in the 90s driving it with beer in the back of their truck blasting van halen but that’s about it. Bedford gate is easy to go around but I’d hate to be made an example of. It was pretty dry up there. No reason for it to be shut except to keep us morons out.

Any update on Maple Springs gate? I’ve got some lazy Orange County boys that are scared to drive around to Indian Truck Trail.

You nailed it with the “not updated”. Jeez! It’s almost as if they want to discourage us from riding up there!

Of course! It lessens the chances of fires, trash, and trail destruction.

So is there any legal dirt to access in the Tabuco part of CNF? I'm usually a N. Main Divide or Silverado start.
