I was there this afternoon. Met @breakdirt916 as he was unloading for a night ride.
I was shaking down my new 2020 Beta 430.

Damnit, I just started to smell smoke in Newport Beach and was really hoping it was not coming from there. Saw this about a minute later, much to my dismay.

From the looks of it the forest is safe for the most part. At least the good section of it. Hopefully they can slow it so nobody loses their homes. Pray for those peeps that they will be safe.

Yeah I feel like a dick cheering to myself that it's not spreading in toward the forest, but how fast it is spreading, and toward homes is distressing.

0% containment and helicopters are grounded since the wind makes the water drops ineffective...but yes the SA winds are fanning it away from maple springs. Certain areas of Irvine have already had mandatory evacuations from the police department. No structure fires so far

At the shopping center near bake/portola, Hoag, planet fitness, and the elementary school is all shut down.

There’s a mandatory evacuation between bake and Alton

but Fat Nelly is right - looks like it stayed west of Silverado Canyon Road, and it's 25% contained as of this morning

but the borrego wash from Portola to Irvine Center drive and whiting burned

So CNF updated their site. Looks like all of the roads are OPEN. When did they finally open Skyline to motorized vehicles? I thought it was closed.

Something tells me that someone messed up when updating the website, but it would be pretty cool if that isn't the case!

I have a 790r, bent my wheels on the CNF the first day. Good old tubes is the way to go in this place. Rode up Bedford to the top today, Indian TT and NMD gates were closed.

Hmm, Sure glad I bought my 5 acres about 2 miles from the Pacific Ocean for $50,000. Costa Rica is beautiful. I would suggest to leave CA as soon as possible. At night at the top of Saddleback, when I could see 20+ million people, I knew it was time to leave, and never return. Enjoy it while it is even still poachable. Top notch road riding here as well as dirt roads that take you to places that are magical. Peace.

For those that care about these things, the gate at the end of Silverado Canyon (Maple Springs Road) was open this weekend. More than the usual amount of cages, but still good to have that available. Unfortunately, the gate for the road going down the east side towards Ortega Highway/Indian Truck Trail was closed so no big loops from OC.

Ride safe and watch the blind corners.
