mntdawg put an itch into riding around my back yard so I put a few miles in yesterday behind the Huachuca's. Great day for a ride.

Napping on the job at 6500 ft. Guess even my G650X gets tired. Zero mph drop wouldn't have happened if my legs were 3 inches longer....lol.

The road up into the hills used to go all the way on to Ft Huachuca. But, now it is blocked off by a huge concrete ditch and fence.

    Heading down into the valley.

Down about 1000 feet off the mountain looking Northwest.

    Looking Southeast

And coming down off of Montezuma Pass on the way home.

Been running around this county for more than half my life (two and a half decades) on foot, jeep, mtb, or moto with a passion for knowing whats on the ground around me, especially the little gems that rarely see use. I have a few projects to do with the 650 when I return.
Thank you for your service Sir.

    Very fun too.

I'll be back with my 200 smoker for riding terrain that will physically take your breath away.
Welcome to the region and thank you for your service to this great nation.

I'm probably heading down there later this week. And next time you're in the area, let me know...I'll try to keep up w/ya!

You're awesome, thank you. Love this place and being stationed here is a true gift.

Looking to move to an enduro hence the flea market posting of my bigger bike. I found that I really want to do some high climbs right in my backyard (live on post) it is rocky.

In keeping up with the spirit....

West side of the chiricahuas Mule Mtn. Hiking the rest of the way up as we speak. Trail, and talent ran out...

This is where the trail ended. ( I walked half a mile up) No walking trail. Just a small overlook and then a rock wall.

I hate these rocks, with my shinko 244 and DRZ, I usually end up on my side. As there was a ravine to my right, I decided to call it...

This is where I ended. Surprised I had 4G all the way up.

    Good little short ride.

You should try GPX recording to show us the whole route, sharing it is easy too. I use OsmAnd+, great app for android.

Great pictures but Jeezus!! Those rocks do no look like fun. That's probably the limit of what I would want to take my 650X on. How long was the rock field?

There were three like that, about 150 yards each. The pics don't show the incline well, but it was steep too.

You had me going for a second, I thought cool I have not seen that rock wall, maybe a new route in the Chirichuas. Then the pic with the Huachucas told me no that is the Mule mountains, then the track confirmed you were in the Mules.

Thanks guys and gals for following up and keeping this one alive, it is the season!

Yeah, Geography isn't my strong suit. I just rode East until I hit dirt, and kept going till that wall...
I'll learn the Ranges better for future rides... It may help search and rescue if I tell them the right mountain..

At a 2 stroke enduro, sub 220-230lbs wet. Beta and some KTMs fall into that range.

@mntdawg Is your KTM plated? I have an XCW300 that isn't but was thinking about jumping through the hoops as it is a wicked fun bike.

As an aside, If anyone in the area would like to do a small group ride I would be up for it just about any weekend.
