More to the point, the institution (and especially the student body) feels like it's still resistant to accepting accountability.

Football first, morality second at Penn State. And that includes the current student body.

Herbstreet, complains (legitimately) about Wash non conference, and then claims the nitanny lions should bump them out? Kent state, a loss to Pitt, and temple? Really? THATS impressive non conference scheduling? Alabama v wash, Clemson v tOSU. Best four teams IMHO.

I agree although I would love to see the defensive battle between Alabama and Michigan.

Verne has a fantastic voice and a warm personality. I'll miss him, but it is time. He struggles to keep up, sometimes.

I wanted the playoff and I like the playoff. But it has created a two-tier system in college football. There's the conference race and title. Separately, there's the playoff.

This year won't be the last time that the two are in conflict.

One of my first memories was a side bet. My dad was a south carolinian, and at was a bit sick of the good ole boys at Russell, so of course he bet on penn state. One of my earliest memories is that goal line stand and my mother elated with my dad's head in his hands.

Don't think he ever heard the end of it , rather it be from coworkers, his wife or his gotdamned kids. He's also been an AU fan ever since. :lol3

I haven't placed a bet on college football for decades...until this year. An old friend who went to law school at 'Bama bet Blackburn syrup against Brazilian coffee on the Iron Bowl using the same points that Yahoo set.

I lost - and I delivered. We both got a kick out of it and will play the same bet next year. I didn't tell him but even if I won, I was sending the coffee anyway. It's what friends do.

Hmmm, who was it that said a few years back that "no school that doesn't win their conference championship should be playing for a NC?" ???????? :imaposer

Coaching carousel begins, some rumors, some hires.

Major Applewhite takes over at Houston. Good decision.

Willie Taggart to Oregon. Interesting. Young and enthusiastic but mediocre record.

Ed O. deja vu at LSU.

Herman to TX. Right on schedule.

Charlie Strong to USF? Good fit, as he almost landed in Miami before TX.

PJ Fleck going to get lured away?

And the Lane Kiffin saga continues... looks to land at FAU after missing at Houston and USF, and turning down LSU OC offer to reunite with Coach O.

Helfrich as LSU OC? That program could use some offense.

If you believe Petros (former USC player and college football commentator, he also has a radio show out here in CA), there are tons of unreported stories of how offputting Kiffin is among high school and college coaches.
