We don't rent out any bikes, sorry. We just provide the transport, imigration works (45$ extra in Cuba) and food while you are on the boat.

Ok then, what's the plausibility of me bringing an f800 gsa down there? I'd have to get it to Colombia first no?

We don't expect people to bring their bike down to Colombia especially for that trip:) It's meant for people who are in the area anyway, traveling the Panamericana for example. Some people have done Central America already or they just want to skip it on their way south or north...

We do a trip in the oposite direction, too (Edit: Not in 2020).
And a roundtrip between Isla Mujeres/Mexico to Cienfuegos/Cuba...

The Stahlratte is the go to boat for ADV/HU riders crossing the Darien gap south to Columbia and beyond. The boat & crew are consistent and trustworthy plus provide a unique experience.

As such many thru riders are left with the dilemma what to do with my bike when I've gotten as far south as I want? Some sell their bikes in Ushaia, some fly them back north & some just reverse the boat shuttle & ride north thru Central America.

As Cuba is now open for US residents this is a new alternative for those wishing to ride Cuba for the 1st time.

The Stahlratte has set routes and thus needs to head back to Panama. If you are a thru rider in South America and are heading back north this is a new great option.

...Overtime I expect other operators to provide Miami - Cuba & maybe Cancun - Cuba routes for those interested in riding Cuba.

15 years on the road ..currently in Panama.
Simon and I are, at last, able to do this trip! We are heading off on the April 2018 Mexico-Cuba-Jamaica to Panama and then riding back up through Central America. This time we are not heading back into South America. We rode this route way back in 2006-7 so are keen to see whats been going on and how many changes have taken place in 7, almost 8 years! We didn't find the border crossings too much of a hassle back then, so fingers crossed it wont be too different!?
Hope we get to meet some other guys on this route too.
Looking forward to this Ludwig! aka Mr Stahlratte ;-)

This is on my "TO DO" list and Stahlratte is an integral peace of the plan in making this happen. Unfortunately, not happening this year.

My struggle is how long will I need (min) to make a round trip from CA (Mexico or Panama) to Cuba/Colombia and back to CA on the Stahlratte? Or do I need to research flying back and shipping bike back to Florida (Home). I will only have 4 weeks to travel. Unfortunately I still have a Just Over Broke to come back too ...:baldy

    Cheers...

If we do those trips in 2019 I'm afraid 4 weeks is not enough.
Next years trip from Mexico to Colombia (via Cuba, Jamaica, Providencia and Panama) alone is like 7 weeks...
