I'm looking forward to partying in both of those places
As far as I'm concerned, it's all a new adventure no matter what city. Colombia man! And sprinkled with foreigners to make me feel even more at home, just like in NYC where you walk a kilometer and hear 10 different languages spoken.
CL, I see we are brothers attached at the ST1100. Thanks for making the generous offer to help out on this rally.
I look forward to meeting you and everyone down there.
I am leaving from Ohio Oct 1. Anyone else heading south from this area around that time? I was headed to Panama but now I am all excited about Columbia. I may have one or two others going with me. I wouldn't mind doing the crossing from Panama to Columbia with a few others.
C5 is correct. I have 2 Suzuki VStrom 1000 that I use for guided tours and also rent. I am based in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Cartagena</st1lace></st1:City>. If anyone is interested, I can be reached at 305-407-9218(USA) or email <st1ersonName w:st="on">firstname.lastname@example.org</st1ersonName>

I'm planning on riding out of Idaho around the first of Oct. spending about
three weeks getting to Panama City.
I will want to cross to Colombia around the 23rd or 24th, spending a few
days in Cartagena before riding South to party.
I'm riding up to Alaska, next week, for a couple of months and when I return, in
July, I will book the crossing.
Anyone else interested in crossing with me should chime in so I can get
an idea of how many spaces we will need to book.
As far as the move to Medellin, that will be great. The rides around there are
beautiful. Twisty mountain roads, cool small towns.
One small caution about Medellin, the city and the surrounding area are so
beautiful, the weather so mild and the girls so drop dead foxy that you
will be in serious danger of never leaving.
Twist it, MAX
What boat are you looking to book passage on?
I was hoping to find a spot on the hundred year old boat that starts with a "S", seemed to be the best set up boat from what I found.
If you get a boat resevered to depart at a certain time let me know and I will do my best to show up. I'm looking forward to the boat trip out to the islands.
Yes the "S" boat looks good and there are several others with good capacity
for handling bikes.
Personally I've only flown between Panama and Colombia.
So anyone with other info on boats for hire please chime in.
But what concerns me is that now with the change of venue we really need
a new theme song and some mods to the T shirt
Is this the ship you're looking for?
BTW is there anyone who is looking to take a ship who also gets sea sick?
I would love to do it but can't fathom five days hanging over the siderail.
Yep that's the one. Seems to be the best for the job to me. Hope its the one I can cross on.
Most people get SS but, thankfully hardly anyone ever dies from it.
Well I'll start with them and inquire about their prices, capacity for motos
and sailing schedule.
I would like to be in Cartagena for a day or two before riding down to
the Libre. So would like to set sail around the 23 or 24 Oct.
I would like to thank Al for the thorough explanation. However, all those riding back north after the rally should look into Cartagena. Around November 11th the city will be pumped up with the beauty pageant and other related events. Most locals will be off work for the entire week and dedicated to round the clock partying. Don't miss it if you can.
I will take one spot on the S boat. Just say when and where to be.
good I'll put you on the list. anyone else.
I actually prefer Medellin. MUCH better riding around there. And a really nice climate.
Maxvert- I will try to make that boat if at all possible. Looking forward to finding out that boat's schedule.
Wow, I was planning on stopping at the Canal sometime in September. But, this event and the traction here certainly has piqued my interest.
I may be interested in doing the boat down. It is just so far off, I have no idea where I'll actually be once that timeframe comes around.
I'll subscribe, and keep this on my radar.
www.hostelwunderbar.com for sail boat info.
Check with your doctor. There's lots of med out there these days that will help you with motion sickness. I suffer from the same problem and will be talking to my doc about it.
This works for me.
