When you get to Panama, if you don't speak spanish, go to a Farmacia, say "Moreo" "mar" and "barco" in the same sentence. The person behind the counter will take care of you.
We had meds for seasickness when we took our sailboat ride. We both still got sick, the meds made it better but it still wasn't pleasant.... especially when you had to go below decks to cook a meal for everyone
Wow, I just found this thread! Good god, I'm so excited I don't know whether to crap or go bowling. Count me in!
So are you going to ride the 990 down to Colombia? Sometime in July, after I return from riding in Alaska, I'll firm up the boat schedule and will need a head count to reserve our places. I'm riding out from Idaho Oct.1 riding through central Mexico and along the Caribbean through the rest of C.A. Twist it, MAX
The 990 is long gone. I'm on an F800GS now. OMG, what a fantastic bike! I flew down to Burbank to pick it up and took my time (7 days) to return to Portland (Berdoo, Death Valley, Tonopah, Reno, Sacramento, Grants Pass, Coos Bay, and finally Portland). Since this is the prologue of the SA trip, I'm thinking of starting a RR now. Jeez, I can't wait! I'm also putting pressure on some friends who don't have the time to ride down to the party, to fly down. I need to come up with some good guilt-trip ideas
Ft. Lauderdale to Medellin (RT) runs on average $250-300.00 via Spirit Airlines. American Airlines runs around $400-480.00.
Interested, very interested..... Let me know if you need help with the Spanish part, like translate a reply, etc.
I'm an American Ex-Pat living in Mexico. How hard is it to get a long term visa in Colombia similar to the FM3 that I have in Mexico.
So many different options that you'd have to be more specific about what you have or what type you are looking for. Easiest is to get married, have a child with someone or get a student visa. Second in line would be a pensioner's visa or investment visa. However you can stay here up to 6 months per calendar year with nothing...maybe bounce between Mexico and Colombia twice a year?
I,ll be spending more time getting this thing back on course in Medellin. The bad news is that I had to crash my Ktm and break my Fibia to get the time needed. Back with more news soon!!! Al thebarkingspider
I'd love to attend. But, US$1500 to Columbia from Panama and return, with the bike, is a massive nut to pay. Any less expensive options that anyone has come up with?
