Nate creek was closed last time. Those seasonal closures are super lame. Rode the Alpine Trail. That was sweet. I’d have to check and see what else we rode, but all those trails sound familiar. Lost creek resulted in formation of the “Lost Boys” legend.

I think I wanted to ride Uncle Rico, but had no takers. That, or it was also closed?

Wilson Mesa gets shut after labor day as well as a couple on the Plateau. It does suck for sure. At least we have good options still, in any direction.

    Alright I just registered.

Are the vehicle spots at the camp first come first serve? Or can I claim dibs on a spot big enough to park my van?

Honestly, it would be hard to get a van up to the rally site itself. John is hoping to keep most of the haul vehicles down at the bottom of the road. It's a USFS road and should be okay for the weekend. I think there might be parking available at the mine, too. It's a bit further down the road.
Again, we should have some schlep vehicles available to take gear up to the rally site for tent camping, but trying to keep vehicles up there at a minimum.
When we get a little closer, I'll set up a poll to see how many folks aren't just riding their bikes to the rally, like a good adver. Then we can figure out logistics a little better.

Gotcha, I can put all my camping stuff on my bike and ride it in, just prefer to camp in the van if possible. Its only 2WD, but lifted and has an e-locker so it will get some places.

Trying to plan for the event but after reading entire thread I need clarification on dates. Event is Sept 10-12 but camp setup will be allowed Thursday Sept 9 and event ends Sunday?

I got out for quick spin this evening. Got home just at dark. Hardly anyone else was out. A few bikes and jeeps. Very pleasant in the San Juans.

Had a quick beer at the Red Mtn Brewery, met this couple out here from Indiana. They are inmates here. We had a great chat.

A "spirited" ride up 550 was in order, as I was losing daylight. Headed back home via some pass that causes some puckering for some people, in some spots...

The white building in this pic is the Bridal Veil Hydroelectric Plant. A friend of mine rebuilt it in the late 80s, and even raised his family there for several years, year round .

Quick evening ride with my 13 yr old son. East Fork Trail, on the south side of Lizard Head Pass on hwy 145. This connects to Bolam.Pass and you can take that east to Purgatory on hwy 550, or get more singletrack on Hermosa Creek. From Ouray you can take Imogene, Ophir or Black Bear to get on this side. Illium valley is a beautiful dirt option from Telluride south to where Ophir rd hits 145. Fantastic rides no matter what road surface you are on. Fun trail if you like the skinny stuff. Not real gnarly, but not a fast trail either.

If you are planning to attend or are on the fence now is it a great time to register as it helps us with logistics. We would really like to get a feel for how many people are planning to attend. If you have questions, PM me and I'll do my best to answer them. Thanks!

I’m a solid maybe, will firm it up in the next week.

Looking to ride from the Front Range mostly dirt to get there (following the COBDR for a lot of it) if anyone is interested in joining. Probably leave Wednesday morning and plan to roll into Ouray Thursday evening.

Anyone looking to head out from Minnesota?

I'm planning to come but have to get confirmation I can get the time off before registering.
