I was thinking Auckland too.....
I normally tend to be really relaxed when travelling, so I tend to tolerate a lots of different scenery...
I'm just intrigue as why you both think Auckland is ugly... Are we talking about the city itself, people, traffic???
It's a standing joke in NZ. Anyone not living in Auckland loves to take the piss out of it.
I have lived and worked in Auckland and it is a horrible place to drive to and from work, the public transport system is woeful and the place is expensive to live. Nothing more, nothing less than that.
Most bigger cities are ugly I reckon and it has a lot of construction activity in play ATM. Harbour is OK, but nothing special.
This isn't a competition. I win no matter what, really, and I'm being showered with kindness by both. I consider myself very fortunate.
You really thought you were getting all this for free????
Oz vs NZ is always a competition, its family!
So - has consideration been given to T-shirt purchases for the impending trip? Lots of opportunities...
I need that tee shirt; in orange of course
I'm sure sictees will be only too glad to help you there dd.
Fwiw I bumped into Dylan, an inmate/pup from Colorado yesterday, he'd bought himself a piece of junk off gumtree and was riding Sydney Brisbane up the freeway for a bet.
He got a fun ticket, didn't have a working speedo, 114 in 100 zone, $300 plus dollars... the fine was more than his bike was worth...
A KTM doing 114 ... unheard of
I'll say! Can't get mine to go that slow
No, have to be gracious in defeat and will except running a very distant second.
Let's be honest - how can anyone living in Melbourne compete with someone living in New Zealand when it comes to awesome roads and scenery.
I love the yellow shirt! And the green one is really funny, too. I tried vegemite.
I didn't care for it. I am very sorry.
There's no second place since there's no competition. Either of you is welcome at my place any time and my GS is at your disposal.
Yet, in spite of our awesome scenery, some of which I enjoyed for the first time yesterday, I have seen a lot of NZ and it is easy to be spoiled by good stuff. Australia scenery is good stuff too, as it is different to what I am used to. I have been into the middle (geographic centre) of NSW a couple of times on a bike and I really enjoyed the scenery once you get out of the urban confines.
So, for me, all I care about is ensuring @Sfcootz gets to see some of our awesome scenery when she comes to enzed. And I know you will guide her to stuff really cool stuff in Aussie.
Wow, slow down there... Yes NZ has beautiful roads and great scenery... but It does rain a lot, you get ice in most shaded corners and is not that warm at any time of the year...
Now, between Vic and NSW Mountains, we have more than 10 times the amount of gorgeous roads and great scenery than NZ both Island combined... We also have shit truckload more dirt roads than possibly any where else on this planet... I'm not going even to bother mentioning the sandy beaches and National parks chockablock with native animals...
Then off course you have the Melbourne social life that's huge and that can be only found in Queenstown in NZ... After that, in NZ you may be in bed by 6pm... (and much, much earlier in winter )
The only advantage that NZ has is that everything is within 500-600km radious where here in OZ, well I don't need to tell you...
MrKiwi has just slightly better presented his ride, if you ask me...
All you need is some candle lights, good music and just let the boat rock...
Either of you as Nev or myself? (you see, that reply was addressed to me so I presumed...)
