This year I've been up that 'flat track' road 3x, down 1x and 1x in the Jeep.
Link for Frog Ship above.
Is that a rear passenger seat?
Count the faces in the photo.
I've been exploring the roads west of Alsea but hadn't got to 5800 yet, DiggerD's post motivated me. What a great ride! I bailed at Yachats, will save the rest for another day. Met a Toyota Corolla on the road about a mile from the Cape Perpetua intersection, wonder if he made it all the way to 34.
Digger and I with two others were in that area on Saturday. I remember meeting a gold v-strom somewhere. We had three 690's and a squeaky clean DR.
I was in the lead when we saw the solo non KTM.
We were heading inland on the Cape Perpetua road.
Day was getting late and I was trying to make time, keeping eyes on the road.
All I remember was it was a larger bike.
Thoughts on the Toyota...
I think a lot of travelers take short visits inland from 101 for wizz stops, afraid what they might catch in the public rooms, even if they do find one open.
Dang good ride Zoob….wore me out....slept very well.
Ha, that was me! I didn't really notice what you guys were riding either, getting late as you say. Re the Toyota, that's a hell of a whizz detour. He was a mile from the intersection pictured above, heading to Hwy 34.
Hey all, I suppose its time for "that" update. It is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you we will need to find a new clubhouse for the foreseeable future. While I was actually hopeful for a brief moment that a pending disaster loan would give us the help we need to stay afloat and rebuild, the new building owners have decided to evict me without cause. I received my 30 day notice, with no prior communication to that effect, last Thursday. My last day in the building, after 10 years, will be June 22nd. Im currently in desperate need of covered and open storage. If anyone has any to offer, I'd be eternally grateful. Had a lot of fun these past few hundred tuesdays; thanks for the ride(s).
Lot of room out here at EastGate with tall cielings….but you'll need a Sugar Daddy...
Sorry to hear,,,but that noose is now off yer neck, bud.
Before we started to met up at Flat Tail, Zoob, myself and others would having a moving club house so no one had the chance to get tired of us.
We would send out a e-mail telling the next spot to meet up.
We could do the same using this thread to say where.
Thanks for putting up with our rag tag group......lot of good / fun / stressful meat ups.
Good job bro...from the bottom of my heart.
Awww, shit, Killer. So sorry to hear this. There's no doubt in my mind, this group would not have lasted if not for your enthusiastic hosting, and the friendly service we've gotten from your staff. I've always felt incredibly welcome at Flat Tail!
Damn, KillerD, I'm sorry to read this. CC has said it well, I'll certainly miss the place on my bi-weekly visits when that routine starts up again. Well done and may opportunity draft your talents again soon. DD
Sorry to hear.... Something better will pop up!

My 950 runs like a dream! Except cruising at 65mph... which is still as irritating as it was last year! I have plans for a run over to the John Day coming up, which might be the kick in the ass I need to reinstall the factory airbox, as advised... For the vast majority of the "spirited" riding i do around here, the surging isn't really an issue, cause there's no "cruising" involved.
The brewery business has pretty much been a dumpster fire lately, but things are starting to improve. We'll be back open for onsite food and beer soon, with expanded outdoor seating. We are doing food/beer to-go thursday through monday 1-7 right now. I'm also finally building out the smokehouse to include a food cart type serving space that will be doing BBQ and Oysters, which will be nice.
Hit me up if yer headed this way!
Well, shit. I just read through to the end of the thread and saw Dave's post. It's been a bit since we've talked and I hadn't heard the news. Count me in on the moving effort. I have a 1 ton truck and 20' flatbed trailer available.
As far as clubhouses go, I'd be more than happy to host a regular gathering of riders at Yachats Brewing. If that's is of any interest to you guys, let me know. One stipulation: the valley based riders will have to be responsible for making sure that Dave comes out with you!
I heard those called 'skates', to move heavy machinery.
I have a 3/4 t flat bed truck, a 18' flat bed trailer and a 16' enclosed.
Call us out.
Had a thought.
I think we could rangle a summer job for you riding around in circles in a AC harvester which would give you plenty of time to sort out your next employment chapter.
