Since many roads traverse a slope, the large trees that fall will often leave enough vertical clearance for a bike to get through. Unfortunately, as seen in your photo, other trees fall with it. More than once I have cut away some alders so I can duck under a big tree and continue my route, knowing I won't have any trucks coming behind me. (Not that they would catch me ...)

The guy cutting up the tree said that between the time he got a permit and then was able to get up there and start cutting, another big tree had blocked the road and he had to clear that out before could get to his.
    Story of my life...

It really is a nice log - shame to see it burn in a stove, but I can see it wouldn't be worth it to drive all the way up there for a one-off.

There's a pretty good sized tree fallen over the road on flat track - I don't think you could get a truck under it, but easy to ride under.
And as sloppy as the roads were, I did see a few cars and trucks up in the forest. Mushroom picking?

Sorry to threadjack, but the Oregon Committee on Transportation will be looking at a bill to allow lane splitting, and they need testimony by Monday. More info here if you'd like to support the bill.

I tried some of his Overland Amber from Yachats Brewery. Kinda like a Porter Light. Damn good beer. It's coming out again soon.

Lucky Man....to have a ride out.

I had to walk out of the woods one time. The riding gear gets heavy and I made multi staches that I had to pick up later.

Biker friendly folks at Deb's Cafe in Alsea if need be.

We know a guy who got cured of BMW ownership when it let him down and he had to ride Bitch on a KLR Tail Rack for substantial miles. :lol3

Thanks, good to know about Deb's. Would have been a very long hike. I'm usually solo, definitely caught a break.

That's cause the luggage rack was softer than the seat.

Prime Rib Saturdays, dang good left over Samwich Sunday.
    Out door eating.
Local tap beer from German brothers down river.

Would be a great place for a roaming ADV Meet Up.

    Which reminds me.

I sure miss our ADV meet ups.

Can anyone suggest a good spot near Corvallis to work on basic dirt skills, like power-slide turns? Don't need a lot of room, just some dirt or better yet gravel, and a lack of people. Fairgrounds parking lot is too busy.

There are a lot of gravel stock piles out in the coast range. Usually with a big flat gravel lot. The slide turns and spinning wheels are great for creating flat tires though.

Nice day for a ride on Wednesday. Saw 75 degrees on the old KTM thermometer coming home on hwy 34. Temp range was 43 to 75 for the day. Here's the first good picture of Cape Perpetua that I've taken after trying a hundred or so.

Albany MX track has a small flat track.
Give Gary a call. Maybe I will tomorrow.
The track is on the left as soon as you enter the park.
'Been eye balling it for years.
Be a hoot to get some ADV riders/bikes on the track at the same time.
    Anyone interested?
Might be able to rent it out at a group rate.

The HEAVY 6x2 weld table and heavy 6x6x2 shelving is still up for grabs. Going to the curb soon. Bring a truck.

Perfect day for exploring the woods behind Mary's yesterday. First time riding with intercoms, it was a lot of fun.
