This thread hurts me.
No ad here, and was not for sale, but yesterday morning a previously unseen r75/5 was ridden past me in my neighborhood. Off-white pantina’d toaster, looked to be a long time owner too. Never really was crazy about toasters but THAT one really grabbed me, even though the garage is maxed with the /5 and K. Greed, that’s what it was.
The want is strong !
I want em and then when someone walks in to my shop , its difficult to explain the herd ...
Yeah, I understand there will be variations, but the differences are distinct for a bike purported all original- the pitting on the top and front covers does align with the appearance of the block and tranny. I would expect to see some similarities in the finish, even if they clean up a bit differently, if they were subject to the same environmental exposure over time.
Not trying to denigrate the bike- It is very nice- And I may end up bidding on it, but it seemed too off.
I'm disappointed that this one isn't snatched up already as that's a WICKED deal!!!
I'd be a liar if I said I haven't looked at the listing more than a few times.
Do it!! :)
BMW R75/7 RARE AIRHEAD-COMPLETELY RESTORED
I don't see a price. It looks like a CL auction situation...looking for offers. If you are selling something, you have to know how much it would take to let it go...just put a price on it.
EDIT - I found another CL listing for it in TN with a price of $7750.
1984 BMW R80/GS - $8900
1994 BMW R100R "Mystic" - $5500 (Portland)
I do have a sister in Madison WI. But, she's a millennial so it would be easier to do it myself
I reached out earlier today and haven't received a response. I just checked the listing and it has been deleted. It looks like someone got a nice bike.
Not mine but local, Hoske tank for a /2 for $795.00, that's a really good price! https://denver.craigslist.org/mpo/d/longmont-hoske-bmw-tank/6891479846.html
I hope it went to someone like one of us, a person who will enjoy it as is. At that price point, it brings out the "Cafe Clown Crowd" And no bike deserves the fate of flat black, exhaust wrap, and brown "leather" wrapped skateboard seats
Also on Ebay with a buy-it-now price of $1,300...
That's funny because I was telling my fiancee about it and how a lot of them are being chopped up to create what is essentially something that is only good for cruising around the neighborhood or for taking pictures of and she told me I should buy it. Oh well, I think I knew in the back of my mind that wasn't going to last long at that price.
Speak of the devil...
1987 BMW R80 FOR SALE - $3000
I'm not an expert, but I think this might be mislabeled. However, the price doesn't seem out of line for what it is...I think???
BMW GS 100 Paris-Dakar 1989 - $5500
You are correct. Not a PD. There were no PD's in the States in '89. Nice looking bike.
