But everything would be forgiven if he’d just sold that bike to one of us for half price.

This is one very clean /5, but some things don't appear to be legit- the front cover, air intake and tranny cases all seem to have a different finish than the main engine block, as if they have been replaced. The block and frame numbers match, though. My '73 LWB is a 2999 serial, while this one is a 4005 series build. Looks nice, though. And still reasonably priced, with 2 days left. (so we all know that's no going to last)

My advice from someone who’s been around here for a while - thicker skin. This site has done more to help me learn to let shit just roll off than almost any other influence.

Absolutely sound advice, especially if you ever find yourself venturing down into the “Basement”. :lol3

    This one looks promising.

Not addressing all your concerns however the issue of the aluminum parts all seeming to have a different finish or the fact the parts don't seem to go together because of the variation in the color of the aluminum.

That is normal on a cleaned Airhead. The only time the aluminum parts will be all the same color is when they are prepped with Rub 'N Buff or something else that paints the metal.

No ad here, and was not for sale, but yesterday morning a previously unseen r75/5 was ridden past me in my neighborhood. Off-white pantina’d toaster, looked to be a long time owner too. Never really was crazy about toasters but THAT one really grabbed me, even though the garage is maxed with the /5 and K. Greed, that’s what it was.

Yeah, I understand there will be variations, but the differences are distinct for a bike purported all original- the pitting on the top and front covers does align with the appearance of the block and tranny. I would expect to see some similarities in the finish, even if they clean up a bit differently, if they were subject to the same environmental exposure over time.

Not trying to denigrate the bike- It is very nice- And I may end up bidding on it, but it seemed too off.
