Part of why I love buying beater bikes out of Cali. Drag them into Oregon and other than the (relatively new) out of state title fee, no back charges. A few years ago, I got an 'RT for $650. It had nine years of back fees down there that made it worthless to anyone but scrappers. Today it lives in Walla Walla as the happy steed of an older gentleman that wouldn't have been able to put the money in for a local one, or the work in to resurrect a bike that had been sitting for ten years.

    I guess that makes me a middle-man??

I've been wondering about that CA back reg issue for a couple years now and you just confirmed my suspicion. Perhaps I should start looking down south.

I just sold a 73 CT70 that was "original" and complete for $2500. Sold to the first guy for my asking price....my son still thinks I sold it too cheaply. It's shocking what these go for...you can buy a chinese clone with a 125 motor for $1500 brand new...but it's a clone.

These are not the clones you are looking for.

My point was that my original 73 sold for $2500 and I probably could have gotten more. I found that interesting since there are brand new clones available for $1500. I realize there’s a difference and why one is valued more than the other.

I'm just goofing, buddy. Nothing directed to your specific comment except the closeness to the Star Wars quote. :thumb

As you can see by the responses, everyone has a different idea about this. :lol3

Tags are license plates, and stay with the vehicle for years until the vehicle is sold, when new tags...metal license plates...are issued to the new owner.

Tabs are the annual renewal sticker that you affix to the tag each year.

Title is merely an ownership document for any vehicle. Registration is the document that the titleholder needs to get tags for road use and must renew every year to get current tabs. "Registered as a street bike" is the proper phrase.

Yeah, "registration/tabs good till next November" is meaningless in Washington. When the buyer titles and registers the vehicle he starts over with a new annual registration cycle. Would Washington refund any unused annual registration fees?

    Yeah...no. :photog

Seems pretty reasonable if you and the SO wanted some liter bikes. My guess is location may have something to do with pricing.

Sometimes ya come across a good deal...

Any drag racers out there? Here is a good candidate for a go-fast.

1962 Chevy Nova II - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle automotive... (craigslist.org)

I saw a couple others also. A 52ish Chev sedan and a 72 Opel Ascona wagon.
Those Nova's were pretty light. The Opel came in at 2300-2400 lbs with all iron engine, tranny and subframe. Body shell maybe 1700 lbs.
I bet the Nova, stock 2700 lbs or so, as a body shell would be not much more than the Opel body shell.

An LS swap would make either a 12 sec car. $20,000 later 8s

    Sucker bet. LOL

"Under 300 miles?" That is just sad. Maybe the owner was the "novice" he was warning against in the ad.

For 10k I’ll buy an exotic bike that will be much better in all categories. But if you’re a huge bills fan, then get after it.
