I plan on riding through Oregon in June with a few coworkers. A question came up about mosquitos and we were wondering if we should bump our trip back a month to July.

Would mosquitos cause much of a problem at all in June?

If so, would bumping the trip to July help?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

I live in bend and June July Aug can all be bad. June may be the best because you have a chance it will freeze at night. We are getting a bunch of snow this year so the above may be correct on the road con.

I have yet to run into any of them blood suckers up at the lake

I'm one of those types that could be in a crowd of 100 and be the only one getting eaten alive

But yeah, unless we have a really warm spring, you might want to wait until July

September is your best time up there. Warm, no snow. Just ran OBDR route 3 last September. The only downside was dust.

I like to go up late in the day

The ride up is incredible, and if you go later you don't have as much traffic to contend with.

Need to be prepared for the cold up there. Even in the middle of Summer I've been caught in a small snow storm up there. Temp can really drop fast

Snow is not uncommon in June, especially the first half.
