Sorry Syliva I guess I wasn't clear enough. I do use feeler gauges, but I was referring to Creeper's "scotch tape" analogy on how the gauge should feel while sliding between the valve and actuator (terminology stressed :uhoh), which is a damn good analogy by the way. I just needed to feel that with my fingers, which don't usually attempt contortions while pulling scotch tape.

    Hi meat,
Yep Chris' "anal"ogy is a good one. Problem for me is on a warm day verses a cold day the feel of tape being peeled will be quite different. :D

Tight is tight, except on a hot day.

Tell ya what Meaty... you got a mic or a dial caliper, or even a vernier caliper? Set what ever it is you got to .006", put a bit of oil on the anvils and drag a feeler gauge thru that.
Hell... do it while you're checking the valve lash.

:cry I am not blessed with such tooling.

But that does give me a way of calibrating my contorted snausages when I get close to one of them there doohickeys.

    Thanks for the tip, teach.

Sure but it's all a matter of how loose and how tight. Whats the diff between an A- and a B+.
