drag123 - I just did a quick search for that headlight guard with windshield holder. Is that your design/build or did you buy it? Is that a CB500X windshield? Looks good - how does it work?

Sorry to hear that, I just saw a weather warning for your area for the weekend.

At least you did get the bike out for a little spin!

Someone should fab up some parts to sell like exhaust/skid combo. The frame has to be cut/welded but people like me will pay money to save time.

Only thing stopping me from doing this is currently it's my only bike and I don't want the downtime.

I've had up to 3 at a time but with all the other toys I have they end up a bit neglected.. Bike time divided by 3 = 3 bikes poorly maintained vs one that gets loved.. Might just do a big bore.

I don't know if that would be possible. There's a little variation between builds enough so that a kit system may not work.

I already have gauged interest in a crf500l kit, and basically nobody cared, and nobody was interested.
i wanted to start building either kits, or the crf500l bike itself but the advider community was fast to completely and utterly shut my idea down.

guess people would rather be keyboard warriors and spend more time complaining about not having a magical unicorn bike rather then actually owning one.......... very strange this world we live in........

I wouldn't read too much into that.
These bikes are all different and some have more of a factory look than others.

I think these bikes are great. I’m just not sure how you legally do the engine swap in the state of California.

I mean, yeah, what they don’t know won’t hurt em, but technically it’s not got the right engine in for the registration etc. and if something were to happen insurance wise, they could check the number and void the whole scenario.

Love the idea. The will, and the execution.

I've never heard of insurance asking if you have the original engine

If you wreck, and it’s a major incident, in California, I guarantee they will look for numbers matching on the title and any alterations to the main motorcycle short of accessories. Anything they can do to get out of it and place blame somewhere.

Say I owned this bike out of state, I couldn’t bring it in because the inspectors would see different numbers from the title

Prop 65 warning. You are at high risk of developing cancer if you do these modifications.

I've spent a serious amount of time on the side of the road with the cops and the only time an officer went after my VIN and engine number was in Oregon.

I've been adv riding my CBR500R. I can only imagine how nice that silky smooth motor would be in a CRF250L frame. Awesome project, great results!!!
