E07A3922-9F3A-442E-B0A5-622CEE837C0C.jpeg First ride report. Don’t know if it counts as an epic ride by the standards of this site, but I’m just waiting to get out of work to head from the Bronx to the west coast and around the southwest for a few weeks and figured I’d give this a shot.

Bike is a 1988 Harley Fxlr with about 90k on it. Hopefully she’ll be returning under her own power without the assistance of uhaul. Already have it uglied up and packed to go so just gotta wait out 2:30, drop off my commuter sportster, change clothes, and go.

Here she is in normal street dress, I’ll post a pic of her loaded up later

Haven’t even left yet and I’m already causing disappointment. The pretty king and queen came off in the jed clampettizing effort to get it ready for the trip. The much uglier king and queen from an fxrt is on it now. If things go remotely according to plan, I’m picking up my girlfriend in vegas on the way home and shes riding along to new mexico.

Her longest trip so far has been niagara falls, so figured better add the big seat so she enjoys the trip and agrees to more in the future

In, love the side cases. I did east to west and back last year from NJ would love to do it again if the opportunity presents.

Nothing too interesting to report. Nothing leaking at unsustainable rates, and no new noises. Got through nj, pa, and maryland. Made it to west virginia and calling it a night. Still just trying to make time on the slab to get to places I haven’t been yet, but I like WV scenery so don’t want to waste the trip blasting through at night. If the bikes still in front of this motel in the morning the report will continue.

I’m listed and have 10 acres for you to isolate on. Hope the fires burn out or you may want to skip California.
    Current air conditions are ARMAGEDDON.
    Political conditions about the same.

BTW Harleys never become "Clapped Out", they just develop Character.

So far so good. In central Kentucky. Weathers perfect and traffic light. Only bike issue so far today wasn’t even mine. Stopped to try to help a real young couple on a honda with electrical issues, but the tow truck was on the way already.
Starting to see how much effort and picture taking goes into the good ride reports on this site. This one will probably remain pretty spartan, at least til my photographer joins me in vegas.
Regarding california, gonna play it by ear. Still got a couple thousand miles before any decisions need making but if i get that far Im gonna have to find somewhere to hit the coast at a minimum

It really is an eye opening experience the first time 'round...makes you appreciate the folks who do it well.
FWIW we got a good dose of early snow here in CO. Should be mostly, if not entirely, melted by the time you make it this way (assuming you're going through CO that is).
Hopefully the storm will help with our sub-armageddon, but still substantial, smoke/air quality levels.
If you come this way and need 60w or an assist give a holler (I'm on that TentSpace map @holckster posted) - I've certainly had a couple adventures on my Shovel...so I know how it can go. :-)
