Looks like fun, but I'm getting a little old for camping and sleeping on the ground.

It is the DakAL....I've ridden Alaska to Mexico & I agree with the guy that said it's as good as anything he's ridden around the world. You just won't believe how great of a ride this is.

I love the idea of traversing the plains on little dirt bikes. My brother says he would like to do it, too. It might happen.

I have been looking into doing this on my 690 hopefully next year. Let me know if you want to join forces. I am thinking something like TSDAT, Northern Traveler's route and Dakal with some hopefully interesting connector to near the Twin Cities. I would also like to hit the Badlands.

Would be interested depending on when. I am headed to Maine in August. Wouldn't mind a SD adventure on the DR.

Great. As of now my schedule for next riding season is pretty open. One of the guys I met at the Shindig was talking about doing the Dakal in fall. I don't know if he wants to ride or truck bikes out there. I will try to keep this alive and do some detailed planning as the mood strikes me, which is normally quite a bit.

HBL did a ride out there with Streeter and Sleddog in Sept. He mentioned doing it again sometime next year as well.

It would be wonderful to tag along with guys who know what they are doing. I am way too new to the area to qualify.

For the individuals that have done the DaKaL and/or who live local in SD: Every year I try and organize an annual trip for my friends and I, that normally consists of mostly singletrack. We usually go out to the Rockies and try and find the hardest/gnarliest/gut-wrenching singeltrack on the edges of cliff's that we can find. After watching "Crossing Dakota" I fell in love with the landscape/scenery of SD and I said that I had to do the Dakal and convinced some of my friends to do it also. We all have big ADV bikes (Tenere's, V-Strom's, etc) but would rather do it on our smaller KTM trail bikes....my concern is that if we do the DaKaL and camp out like in the video, that we'll be bored from the terrain (lack of challenging riding/dirt roads/jeep trails). My question to all of you, is there singletrack to be had off the main route? From Blackhills video above, there seems to be singletrack around, can someone suggest a map (Butler, something similar) that I could reference to possibly find some ST and make a route that somewhat coincides with the DaKaL? Or any advice would be greatly appreciated! I guess what I'm trying to say, if this is getting too long winded...we would love to come to your state, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, do the DaKaL, and make the ride more difficult with singletrack thrown in.
