    That's amazing!

You got that machine up the trail? :eek1

No other way to get there I know, so that is quite an accomplishment. :clap

Sorry about all the pics of the cage. It allows me to take the little ones in the pic out camping.

When I am not in the cage this is what I ride:

So theres not one spot on that 4000ft climb where you thought you might slip off this narrow road and roll 50 times to your death ?

The trail is wide enough to carry both left and right wheels everywhere?

I carried both left and right wheels everywhere. I admit the trail kept my attention, but it wasn't too bad.

I had to dig up this old thread because I am looking at the new US Forest Service MVUM map and it shows another trail about 1 mile south of Crown Point Rd.

It is Falls Creek ORV Trail on their map. Designated Route 340
Anybody know it? Ridden it? Found it???? :scratch

Crown Point is designated Route 343 with a length of 4.6 miles
    Falls Creek is 3.7 miles

They also show Bear Lake Trail, designated Route 315 with a length of 6.1 miles.

I can't see either Falls Creek Trail or Bear Lake Trails on Google Earth. :dunno

All the above are marked for vehicles less than 50" wide so they should be fun road/trails to ride. :wings

I propose an exploratory ride in June to ride Crown Point and then find Falls Creek and Bear Lake trails. :ricky

If we don't use 'em, we will lose them! :muutt

Here is the link to the map, it is part of the national forest Motor Vehicle Use Map requirements to give access to us motor hikers:
    http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd487799.pdf

And the main site which has more two more Alaska MVUM maps:
    http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/chugach/maps-pubs/?cid=STELPRDB5346707

I am guessing we will need to do trail work, widening, clearing, and tree cutting.

It would be excellent if we had some ATV's along to help break trail and carry chain saws. :gdog

    A weekend camping trip maybe?

JagLite-I second your proposal! This sounds like great fun. Let's keep in touch as we get closer to June.

Good links guy's thanks for posting them. I definitely will be going back there. May take a newly acquired DR-Z400S, instead of the F8GS. The F8 was plenty doable, but the DRZ would be a whole lot less work. It would also be better for prospecting some new spots. Only 4-5 months to go, and the trail will be ride ready!

Yes, I found the road access for both trails on G Earth, it is the actual trail through the brush, trees, and terrain that I can't see.
Usually the trails show on G Earth if it is an active established trail.
Compare how other trails you are familiar with look on G Earth to see what I mean.

The access roads are easy to find and I am looking forward to exploring!

OK, it is June and time to plan a ride!

It's been summer so long here in town that I don't know if there is still any snow at the higher elevations on the trails.
Should be clear all the way up, I think. :ear

I work Mon-Fri so Saturday and/or Sunday rides out of town are all I can do, how about you? :hide

This coming Saturday (6/11) is the Vintage Bike show in Palmer so not next weekend for me.

4th of July is coming up quickly for a long weekend if that makes any difference.

Well, anybody interested in trying to make a ride this summer?

I will go alone if no one else wants to go so I am just checking on interest.

I didn't get down there last year, didn't get to explore Petersville Rd or Kennicott mine either.

I hope to ride the Denali Hwy this weekend if the weather isn't too wet.

Wife and I headed up to arctic circle leaving anchorage on Sunday and not rushing just hitting random points throughout the week... getting her used to dirt before Dawson... may hit Denali highway next weekend depending how time goes.
