So if you didn't crash, the javelina broke your leg? It struck your leg?
Yes. Both came out of the brush head down charging at me. One hit the front wheel (it’s hairs are stuck to buttons on the front rotor and the rotor is bent badly) and the other hit my left leg right below the knee
I got most of those sorta figured out, except the tarp lashed to the metal framework. I’m sure there is a story there, too.
Beautiful pictures. I was wondering about that out of focus pic too. But I am sure there is a reason for it. Give up the goods Dan.....
Love those leisurely green scenes. I made it until January 23 in shorts (a new record) but the sh*t weather has arrived. Taking me some place warmer is a blessing. Thanks.
I’ve ordered a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse which should be here soon and make video editing much easier, as everything I’ve done lately has been on my iPhone.
Here is the intro I’ve been working on for a new video idea I have. It’ll be mostly chronologically presented pictures from my journey mixed with some very short video clips and all with the background music of Azam Ali, with her permission.
So your thoughts on this intro. And BTW, Parte uno will be most likely from Ohio to Peru. Parte dos e Peru a Brazil.
‘ts funny. I don’t know myself
Video is looking good.
Plus, I like the credits page.
They are very protective but have poor eyesight. It might be that they never saw you. Unfortunately the result is the same. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Love that Intro video. The music is great. The style of the credit page is very cool. Can’t wait.
The video is looking fantastic, Dan. And you’ve done this on your phone so far? I can’t wait to see what you can do with a better setup.
I’m telling you. I’ve hit countless species of animals while riding motorcycles over the years. And I’ve seen the varied reactions from said species. Freeze. Start and stop. Immediate change direction, etc etc.
And those two animals charged at me. Both with heads lowered right before impact.
^^One hog, maybe, but TWO? Sounds like a javelina conspiracy to me!
It’s a sad (well, sadder) day for RTW riders in the future, when land borders reopen and the world returns to somewhat normalcy (post-pandemic). The options for transporting you and your motorcycle back and forth between Panama and Colombia just became much more limited.
The German-registered sailboat the “Stahlratte”, owned by a non-profit organization and employing Captain Ludwig all these years made it’s living carrying Overlanders across the Darien Gap, an undeveloped tract of land separating the two continents.
Well, Covid took its toll here as well. The good Captain sat over a half-year anchored off Cancun waiting for ports to open, his family waiting for him back in Cartegena Colombia where he lives. They were used to him being away but I’m sure that was a difficult period for him. News is now out that after a final trip north to Mexico that includes a stop in Cuba, the Stahlratte will then sail across to Europe to it’s new owners.
link to the news here:
Thanks @Stahlratte for the fine voyage I had aboard. Before Covid struck, stranding me in Brazil seven months, I had planned on seeing you again on my way back north.
Thanks Stefan. Thanks Capt. Ludwig. Thanks Ana and Edwin. I had a blast.
Sad to hear. Seen that boat on several RR's.
As I experiment more with video editing, I’ve started paying attention to views and such on my YouTube channel (the YouTube Studio app makes it easy) and had a thought. So am going to do a little experiment.
If you have been on my YouTube channel before watching a video and liked it, please subscribe to my channel. I know exactly how many subscribers I have, and am curious what bump this request will provide. So, if you’ve watched a few and haven’t subscribed, go ahead and click it.
I’ll post the results of the experiment later.
And for those wondering about my motives, don’t. I am not Itchy Boots. I have zero intent to monetize from that content.
