I’d take Sunny over that bike. Sunny nearly had a RMZ450 front end installed but I decided to modify the stock forks and triple clamps. There are reasons for right-side-up forks being more durable over long distances.
Still cool to see people modifying DR’s

    Humans are built for traveling.
Whether on foot or astride assorted machines we’ve invented, we are at our best when visiting places other than those we call home.
Immersed in new cultures and exposed to all manner of people and environs, we thrive.
Being stationary can lead to all manner of mental and physical declination

Slow and painful. But I’m able to do things I couldn’t before. Swelling is up and down depending on how hard I exercise it.

For my friends who are going to the Overland Expo Mountain West in Loveland Colorado, which begins tomorrow and runs through Sunday, my motorcycle Sunny will be there tomorrow and Saturday at the Woody's Wheel Works tent in the motorcycle vendor area!
I’ll be up there all day Saturday to talk about 2 wheeled overland travel and how my wheels from Woody never let me down.
Hope to see a few of you there. I’ll be in a leg brace and on crutches so I’ll be sticking around the WWW tent!

I wish I had paid attention to this upcoming event earlier. You are one of the handful of people that have given me the push to venture out on my own journey. I should have planned a trip east this weekend. I wish I could meet you, give you a hug and shake your hand. Although truthfully, in this day and age, an elbow bump would suffice. :2cry

It was great to get out of bed and out of the house for a few days. I spent Saturday and Sunday afternoon at the show. Sunny attracted a lot of attention from the four-wheeled Overland crowd as well. It was great to get out, talk to folks about my bike and trip, and get encouragement that I might recover fairly well given time.

Next to our booth was a dealer with the new 22 KLR. I like them and would happily wander the planet on one. I met many many KLRs on the road. Respect

me with Dustin Nere. He was giving a presentation at the show. We were in South America at the same time but never met till now. Great guy. He posted today on FB that his DR broke down on Blackfoot Reservation right before he was entering Canada. Motor is kaput.

I have a friend in the Denver area, Pete West (don’t think he’s an inmate) who is part of the Northern Colorado Adventure Riders group.
Recently Pete volunteered to retrieve Tim and Marisa Notier, RTW travellers , two-up on a KTM1190 and authors of several books, who were stranded on their way to the Overland Expo Mountain West show, where they were giving a presentation about their travels. Pete drove across states and hauled their bike back to Denver and the Notiers are staying at his house in preparation for the OE in Flagstaff later this month. Their bike issues resolved, they had a meet and greet tonight at Liquid Mechanics, a popular micro brewery outside Denver. I got to meet Tim Notier briefly at the OE, but getting to chat about travels was fun. What a nice couple

And extra thanks to Doug (inmate @The Dude ) for the ride and the beers and tacos. I had a blast Doug.

If not familiar with their story, here’s a link to their blog and story. Great couple and excellent pictures on their blog. Well written
