Sounds fun though
Sorry to see you in that situation Dan. Hang in there and get well soon. Take care bro.
How goes the battle with the pain today Dan?
I’m able to sleep in approximately three hour segments before pain wakes me, usually due to whatever position I’m lying in/how pillows are positioned, etc. and then it’s time to pee into the bottle and try to get comfy again. One hour more and I’m awake, taking the next two pills.
Just now at 8 am I did this, but am going to reduce to one pill every four hours, as the second prescription of fifty is running low already.
Yesterday Jay picked up Chinese food which was pretty damn tasty. But I wasn’t as hungry as I thought, leaving half a container of House fried rice for a microwave meal today, which isn’t bad.
That’s about it. If I stayed on top of things the pain is manageable. Right now I’m not wearing either brace, just the ace wrap over the bandaged cuts. Even that’s starting to suck as it all itches badly. Needs washed (will try today) and the hair is growing back, making it itch even more.
One day at a time I guess
I wince just reading this. Chinese food is great comfort food and with lots of veggies will help I am sure. Are you supposed to take the braces off?
The other benefit of Chinese food is chopsticks, they can be used to reach spots when the braces are on.
Hang in there Dan, slowly day by day you will turn this corner.
Things were itching terribly, so I unwrapped it to let things breath a bit.
I think those alone would set off alarms at the airport. Hope it helped the itching without grossing you out.
That is the scariest picture you've shown on your whole trip. Staples just seem so wrong, but glad you got the itch taken care of.
After that heals in a few months, maybe get a tattoo of a twisty 2 lane road over it to enhance the look? :)
The pic looks more like RailRoad tracks!
Hope you have a good Thanksgiving, Dan and get to eat more than pain pills to celebrate.
Getting thise staples out will help the itching. My lower leg was in a splint for 2 weeks before my staples came out and that first shower after the staples was great.
Yeah, I can tell the stapled areas are itching. That and the hair growing back isn’t helping.
I was running very low on meds so yesterday I cut dosages in half. I barely was able to sleep last night. Today I was able to get a refill so back to less pain and more constipation.
Coffee and a Marlboro?
Fruit in copious amounts. Fresh, canned, or dried. Prunes and Apricots are good.
Baked beans, lentil and rice, that will help out as the meds dill the pain.
Happy Thanksgiving Dan. I am thankful that you are starting your mending journey.
A year ago I spent my Thanksgiving sitting on the side of the road making fresh eggs, toasted fresh bread rolls and fresh coffee. Sometimes the finest moments are the simplest. The pictures are in southern Peru.
Happy Thanksgiving to my family and friends.
I’m thankful for the overwhelming emotional support I’ve received along my entire journey, and especially now that I’m laid up with this injury.
I love you all.
