Hey everyone. I’m up early today to catch the free ride provided by Health First Colorado (Medicaid) to my first physical therapy session at Push Gym on East 5th in Denver. The free transportation got me there pretty early. I just finished completing the pile of paperwork they handed me. I was told the person assigned to me is their best therapist. For some reason I’m oddly scared. Yesterday Woody had his weekly massage session at home and his masseuse Corey then went to work on my leg for about an hour. What an exquisite mixture of pleasure and pain. The pain usually gave way to pleasure the further he dug in. Let’s just say I was pretty sore afterwards. Maybe it wasn’t a good precursor to today’s actual therapy. We’ll see. And sorry for the lack of any real new Moto-content. This is my life after all. And my focus is on becoming physically able to walk and ride again, and functional enough to be able to earn money for a season or two and get back on the road again....somewhere....anywhere. Hope you’re still enjoying seeing some of the gigs of pictures I’ve accumulated.
If that woman with the cropped hair and camo pants is your therapist, I expect you to receive Industrial Strength Pai,,,,,, er,,,, Discomfort.
She’s not. But she’s Australian and very nice. And very fit. My therapist is a guy named Martin. Liked him a lot. Looking forward to the work. Next week is busy AF. First a visit to the Hangar clinic to be fitted for a walking assist device. Next day to a new doctor for the start of EMG nerve studies. Then the next day another therapy session with Push. I’m sore. Time for a puff and a nap.
You will be amazed by your improvement with your therapist’s knowledge and assistance. You will be surprised how much you are capable of. Your drive to improve will play into your progress. All of us reading know how motivated you are. Hang tough! You’ll be back on two wheels sooner than you hoped.
Though I'm only through page 18 and very late to the party, I sincerely look forward to reading the following 217 pages and catching up on your adventures. Quite the story just getting to page 18; I'm envious of your fortitude and respect your willingness to undertake such a journey. Though I'm a few years behind you, I'm approaching the big five-oh and have had my life go sideways of late. I need to get my boys into/through college and then I might follow suit in leaving this life behind - at least what it has been. Good on you @Ohio_Danimal, thank you for taking us along on this.
Cool finally figured out how to share albums from the early days of CS on my (now full) Photobucket account. This one is Costa Rica https://app.photobucket.com/u/Danimal_album_photos/a/faaeea53-db31-4f9f-bbf7-b55510a0047d
And shit lol. Just realized that through that link you can access many many years of my (now shared with the public) pictures. There’s really nothing incriminating there, so have at it without guilt if you so choose
If there is nothing incriminating or blackmail worthy, then what's the point? ROFL. You've got great stuff, Dan.
Thanks for (over)sharing, Dan! Guess you could just delete that post if you wanted to and keep things a little less public. Hope it was a quick recovery from PT today.
So I'm going through all the ride photos on your Photobucket. ...and run across this. https://app.photobucket.com/u/Danim...1c11449-e894-4f8b-a8da-6d0a2b41f3ce?mode=zoom Can you monetize a meme? Because I think you and your friend in the video could split the proceeds 50/50 and probably, mostly retire. L
In tribute, I altered the RRs title yet again. Making history. First Moto-traveller to interview his motorcycle on YouTube. First ADV RR to have the infinity symbol in it’s title. kickin ass and takin names.
I haven’t seen that since shortly after it’s creation. Found that broken uke during a pee break with my now-deceased friend Mark (Passinthru). The uke was broken a bit more when I was done. Good times.
Jesus lol. I’m sitting here sipping Crown Royal and mango juice, smokin a little and just now taking the prescription that’ll let me sleep well, and I see your post. Nice! Then I see your freaking screen name! strongleftleg?!?!? Is this someone punking me?
Ha! No punking here, but that is a bizarre coincidence. I’ve had that name since day one here, comes from my time riding old Husabergs which had the kickstarter on the left side of the bike. Maybe take it as a good sign? Crazy enough I’ve been following your thread since the DR650 build and tonight felt compelled to finally say thanks for all the work you’ve put it sharing your stories.
