    Aaaaahhhhhhhahahahahahahahahah

    J/k.

Sorry for your seasonal awakening. I’m in Peru’s Springtime, trying to time the seasonal changes just right

it makes me smile to be considered an escape for those preparing for another Winter.

I’ve had several recent messages and one email (not sure why they don’t feel comfortable just asking here on the ride report) asking if I had ever done a walk-around short video of Sunny, detailing what modifications she has had.
I’ve replied by saying that I went over the bike’s construction early on in this ride report.
But to be frank, I never did do any kind of walk around (I know the type of video they refer to, and have enjoyed watching others in the past)
Is this something you folks would like? It’d be easy to do right now with the downtime here in Lima, and while Sunny is all clean and fresh.

In other downtime news, the YouTube channel “Dust” is outstanding. It’s several years worth of Sci-fi short films. Some mediocre. Some incredible. If you’re a Sci-fi fan it’s worth your time.

    Dan,

Just a quick note of appreciation for your trip and the work you put into this report. I'm taking advantage of a window of decent weather in Washington State to complete the WABDR. The weather here has been totally f'd up this fall (third coldest October on record I think?) with a handful of snows already, so this week is a real blessing. All day, you kept popping into my thoughts, reminding me of rides I haven't done yet. But will.

Anyhoo, keep on keeping on, making wise decisions based upon your hard earned experience, and sharing your journey. It is much appreciated.

It’s replies like this that make it worthwhile to take the time to do it.
Good to see you’re getting out and that it’s not snowing there.
I’m still hanging out in Lima and haven’t been doing much. Some museums. Lots of walking. Trying to minimize expenses and all. I get to meet an Inmate @scurry0 Steve Curry as he’s coming into Lima to visit friends and we’ll get to hang out a bit.
Then on the 13th it’s off towards the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu and Cusco for a visit, and then south to Puno and the Chile border. Hopefully this time the roadblocks won’t be so close to the border that I get warned away again. That’s more than a week away though so no worries.

I was impressed by the ancient site of Huaca Pucllana when I was there a few months ago.

I took a few minutes and followed through with the requested walkthrough video, showing my bike and how it's prepped. I don't do a lot of video, so please excuse the lack of polish lol

Great video but what did you use to glue the calavera on the front fender? That thing must take a beating.

I used a bead of Sugru. It's held up for over 20,000 miles now

thanks PP. It was fun. Took longer to upload than it did to create

yes, she is. She’s blushing as I told her what you said.

Sugru is awesome stuff, but not good for everything. It’s also used in my bike to mount my USB ports on the dash

gracias. There are items I overlooked on the video. I added those details to the YouTube description. Glad you enjoyed it!

I was invited to an Adventure riding seminar/meeting today at Big Trail Center here in Lima. I’ll take some pics and report back later!

    G'day Dan,
just joined the party (better late then never) and caught up with 93 pages of your thread to this point over several days, I might ad :knary Just wanted to let you know that, like many other, I appreciate your honest down to earth RR and now that I have caught up I'll be following along to the end, whenever and wherever that will be.
DR650's are quite popular Downunder and yours has had quite a few improvements.
I recall that you set out with the goal of spending an average of $50 per day and had a budget for 760 days or something like that. Now that you have been on the road for 5-6 month of your 2nd stint, have you done a tally to see if your over or under that average daily spend :confused
