I have many more pictures I want to share from the Museum, but slow wifi speeds are prohibiting upload. I’ll try tomorrow.
First foray for a camera and only one store even carried cameras in a large modern mall, and the only digital was a Canon Rebel T6 DSLR with two lenses and a car for 1699 sole (about $540). I’m gonna keep looking for now.

I love your posts. They’re not all about the roads, the riding, or the bike. You take the time to stop and look at things most travelers would pass. You show the culture, the communities, and the history. You travel like I hope to when I start my trip. Thank you.

I’ll take that as a compliment! It may sound blasphemous, especially on a motorcycle travel forum like ADV, but you find out after a while that it (the motorcycle) is just a means to an end.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Sunny. But she understands her place in the world.
Gracias Senor. Composition is key. When I look at a picture after it’s taken, of it doesn’t capture the elements of the area that arrested my attention to begin with, it’s deleted.

I’m not a religious person. My immediate family wasn’t either. My late Mother Margo Byers was a deep thinker though. She raised me to question things, and to find my own answers. Up to a certain point of adulthood I may have even considered myself an atheist. But that changed after a rough stretch of 4 years with 5 miscarriages back when I was happily married.
The birth of my Son Spencer was brought about by science to be honest, as my wife was able to get past the first trimester only after a fertility clinic in Philadelphia determined the fault lie with her immune system, and after lots and lots of money was thrown their way (my health insurance wouldn’t cover the procedures as they were, at the time, considered experimental) we finally had a healthy, happy baby boy.
While I know the realist in me was thankful for that clinic and their research and the results it obtained, there was something else felt.
Call it a connection to Gaia. Call it whatever you like, but since that time I have carried a spiritual element inside me.
What in the hell does this have to do with your comment lol??
Traveling by motorcycle seems to ignite the awareness of this spiritual element in me.
Partially I’m sure it’s because of your direct connection with the world around me.
But there’s something else there. Intangible at times. Other times slapping you in the face.
Yes, there is something quite special about two-wheeled-motorized travel.

I’m safe and sound in a nice Airbnb apartment in Cusco. Ran by an English-speaking local named David, who seems intent on making his guests comfortable and happy.
I’m staying here five more nights. Plenty of time to get things done. Doing laundry right now, and then taking an Uber to the main Plaza de Armas and going sightseeing/camera shopping. There’s a street right there with multiple camera stores.
Yesterday when I arrived, I decided to ride Sunny to the location Google maps said there was a Nikon dealer.
After bumper-to-bumper traffic for 40 minutes in ancient narrow cobblestone streets, I never found it and returned. Further research shows it’s inside a large Hotel right where I rode past!
It’s fine...there was no damn parking anywhere nearby for Sunny anyways. Ive checked and an Uber from here is only s/7 ($2).
    I’ll check back in later!

I always like to see the philisophical/spiritual moments people have on their trips. Totally part of the gig that I recognise and enjoy when I'm out there.
As they say, travel broadens the mind - but it also focuses it.

    Good stuff, O-D.

    501811D1-EE64-4C0F-937E-CA186FB9089C.jpeg Well, I got a camera!
I visited about 8 camera shops in Cusco today.
I had already decided on another Bridge camera as I don’t want to have to be so meticulous with caring for a DSLR body and lens.
I ended up with the newer version of the camera I broke, a Nikon B600.
Everything I loved about my old one (same sensor) with some added features.
The only one in stock at the Nikon store here was in a red body. I was able to negotiate the cost lower as a result. Low enough that the difference got me a spare battery.
Thanks again those that helped make it possible

No, uses a proprietary battery. Hence the purchase of a backup. Reviews say a fully charged battery is good for 500 pics though.
Too bad as my Lipo USB AA batteries are going strong!

To all my friends and followers, both Inmates and not, Happy Thanksgiving de Peru!

I’ll be trying to find a place in Cusco that serves a traditional Gringo Thanksgiving meal. I think I’ve already found one at a popular Hostal near the town center. If not, I’ll get by.

Please take a moment today and calm your mind and focus on what and who you are thankful for. It’s easy!

Yeah. You’re more likely to achieve that than I am. Cooking an all vegan meal for my kids in Seattle. I refuse to use the weird fake/processed not-meats.
