Dan, I hope you really grasped the significance of the skull having dental work including fillings. That. Many. Years. Ago.

Today I walked to another outstanding museum, Museo Pumapungo. No pics were allowed inside but I grabbed a few. The complete indigenous history of Ecuador. Outside are ruins of an Incan farming village.
Also some pics from the walk. Great street art in Cuenca.
So I decided to add a couple of days to my stay.
    There’s more to see

Today I walked to Cuenca’s Museo Municipal de Arte Moderno.
Also some pics from the walk. More kickass street art first, then stuff I liked from the museum

You’re quite welcome! There was a lot more. Like the street art and graffiti I’m posting, this is stuff I like.
You like it too? Great lol.

Thank you! After a while on the road, at least to me, you come to a realization that being happy and not feeling stressed are worth their weight in gold. So posting pictures of things “I” like maybe let’s you understand me better.
I surely love my bike and riding her and feel like I post enough “bike” and “bike with landscape” pictures. I wouldn’t be posting these pictures if I wasn’t enjoying it.
I think I’m going to be on the Adventure Rider Radio podcast soon, being interviewed. That should be fun!

What’s the deal with all those sculptures of movie type characters?

Not sure, but an entire section was devoted to his clay work. A lot was obviously original, but much was movie/video game characters. I especially liked the ones of Link from Zelda, and E.T.
It was a museum of modern art after all....some displays I took no pictures of, as it didn't look much like art (to me lol)

I just saw your FB comment about Adventure Rider Radio! Congratulations!!

I actually suggested they check out your ride the last time you were on the trip and then literally days later you got sick! (I'm sure many besides me have suggested your ride to them...)

Life really does come full circle doesn't it?

    Yeah, that's for sure.

Not a day goes by I'm not focused on how I'm feeling and staying healthy.

When I think back at the things that have happened since I made the decision to do this:
    • Buying a DR650 to modify for the trip. Ending up going head first through a car windshield and totalling the bike...with no memory of the entire weekend .
    • Buying another DR650 when recovered,
    • Quitting a corporate job, cashing it all in.
    • Leaving on the trip and then turning back to the USA after the Oaxaca hospital stay and subsequent doctor's warnings about work being needed within 6 months.
    • Taking a slight detour on return to Ohio by riding the TAT west to east.
    • Flying back to Mexico and having the medical work needed done.
    • Leaving Ohio again for a second time and here I am!
It makes me even more determined that I gotta get this done!

Will do. The interview ended a little while ago, and I think it went well. Jim Martin seems to be a real nice guy, and his mix of questions was well thought out.

He said he would let me know soon the date it will air. I'll certainly pass that info on.

It seems that Sata from Moto Hell in Quito is also here in Cuenca visiting his sister. I'll hopefully get together with his at some point today. Other than that, it's an easy day, and then later tonight packing up for departure from Cuenca tomorrow. I'll be heading SE along E594 a while, along the "guitar route", a series of small towns famous for their handmade guitars. I believe Egle mentioned it in one of her feathured articles on ADV's front page. The one about ADV routes in Ecuador.
As I don't see much in ways of Hostals etc five hours out the direction I'm heading, but DO see a few camping options, it may be tent time for a few days!

So there I was, dwelling on where I’m headed next. What options exist for sleeping. Camping? Airbnb room? Hostal bed?
Then looking at the calendar (it’s funny. I often don’t know or care what day of the week it is or even the date) I realized that there is no rush to head South. It’s 34 degrees Fahrenheit In Ushuaia right now!
My Ushuaia goal of Christmas gives me the rest of September, and all of October and November to ride Peru and Chile, entering Argentina around December first.
And I like Cuenca. But not liking the $20/night cost of this room.
So...I booked another five days in Cuenca at a place only 1-1/2 km away. And it looks like a nicer setup. And at $10/night.
So no real travel day yet lol. More rest and relaxation on the way!
