Looking healthy, Dan. Hope everything goes well for you. I'm a former RX3 owner like you. Just got a Honda NC700x DCT 2 weeks ago. Love not having to use my arthritic left hand anymore!

Arrived safely in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato Mexico.
Walking through town today on my way to Dr. Morath’s office reminded me how much I loved the sights, sounds and smells of Mexico!
So had my initial check-in before Wednesday’s procedure. No more food. Just getting all flushed out. Then, assuming the colonoscopy goes well, I’m off to the races.

Thank you for the well wishes. It’s much appreciated.
I do miss Merry sometimes (my RX3).
We went a lot of places together. Would definitely consider a RX4 for a next bike! But....my DR650 is set up so sweetly. Hard to beat for what I have in mind.

From what I am seeing on some RX3 centered FaceBook pages, the RX3 is selling well. Following that, wondering if the importer will venture in to the RX4. The 3 is becoming a global bike, and Zongshen reputation is being soundly established.

From what I understand the first shipment of RX4s is underway.
CSC (the importer) is already taking deposits for 2019 delivery.
I’d much rather have the 450
    Better MPG
Can get out of its own way going uphill into the wind.
    Better brakes
    All wins

Agreed. I'm just suggesting that since the 3 is getting foothold around the globe, it is opening the door for the 4.
And for those countries that have stepped licensing for displacements, the 3 will be a decent stepping stone.
BTW, I had one of the SG250's under my roof for a few days. It's just so adorable.

If Zongshen had half a clue, they would release the Cyclone Rally 450 replica.....like they said they were going to do...before their Dakar attempt.
And then...going dark on what happened to all four bikes to cause their DNF’s.
Then shortly thereafter shoving supposedly the same motor in the RX4.
Raises lots of questions. Wish I had answers.
If they had explained things, I’d probably already have sent a deposit on a RX4.

If you mean Dakar 2019, I haven't seen anything on the event at all (I just haven't looked).
    If you mean 2018 Dakar:
Two DNF's were riders suffering fatigue and dehydration.
One DNF followed the next day when the rider dropped out, admitting that he was not prepared for the demands of the event.
Final DNF (the French rider) had a crash followed by a fire that kind of had his chances melt away.
    No Mechanical DNF's.

Zongshen entered Dakar in 2017. They didn’t participate 2018 or this year.
Enjoy the 250 Cafe. I’m sure it’ll be a blast!

I don't have an SG, was just babysitting one for a couple days until the new owner arrived to the area.
2017,,,,, has it been two years already?!?!?! Damn, I'm losing track of time.

I’m back at my friends place after coming out of recovery at the hospital in San Miguel de Allende.
Still a little groggy lol but here goes.
I remember laying there thinking how beautiful the hand-painted tiles on the wall of the operating room were. Things you don’t see in a US hospital.
I really wanted to pay close attention to how I felt as anesthesia was applied.
    Focused on the clock.
As I was having and upper GI as well as the colonoscopy. I got a laugh when he sprayed the general anesthetic into my throat and told me to swallow hard. He told me how bad it tasted.
One swallow and I asked for another, as I was so hungry from fasting and flushing out. They laughed. It helped ease my nerves.
IV was already in. I’d already met the Anesthesiologist. I watched him fill the hypo with whatever fluid they used.
I watched him insert the needle into the node on the IV tube.
I really was nervous and focused.
Swear to God I don’t remember seeing the plunger go halfway in before the darkness.
I think I heard Mexican hip-hop playing gently. I think I heard someone whistling to it.
Next thing I remember it was an hour and twenty later. Dr. Morath places his face near mine and says with his giant grin, in his half-Hispanic half-German accent, “Daniel...it went well. You’re good to go on your motorcycle trip!”

The next hour was a lot of cramping and such, but eventually it morphed into a decent buzz, a bit of a wobble to my step.
    The inspection showed no polyps.
The scar tissue in my colon from the severe infection last June was well healed and smooth.
A few other minor things that are normal for a 58 year old.
ALL of them to be treated by proper diet and exercise. So that’s my continued plan. Eat right. Exercise regularly.
And ride the ever-lovin’ shit out of my Bike until I see that sign.
    You know the one.
Big and wooden. Says something about Fin del Mundo.
    Ushuaia here I come.

Seeing that he had a spare helmet, jacket and gloves that fit good enough, I said hell yeah!
So we did around 160Km and ate an excellent lunch at Mineral de Pozo, a small Pueblo Magico
Attached are a few pictures of the ride. It felt FANTASTIC to be back on a bike.

Did it remind you a little of your old RX3?

Been following this thread since the first attempt! When you make it to Colombia, stop by Medellín and I'll buy you an IPA. I have a brewery and bar/restaurant near the tourist district.

So is your visit to MX better now since you can eat? Enjoying the local cuisine (even if it’s the roadside taco stand) is a big part of what I enjoy about travel. Hopefully your dietary restrictions don’t impact that too much.

I’ve already acquired all the details.
    Brazil-made, for Latin market only.
Air cooled. 5 speed. Nice fairing and dash.
    Inexpensive.
    Compared to the RX3:
    Less punch. Slower initial acceleration.
But....will sit at 7000 rpm/105 KPH all day. Smoothly. Even uphill.
I think it’d make an excellent RTW platform

Your offer has been registered in my memory bank (which is, at the moment a bit fuzzy from the weekly mezcal meetup that takes place in SMA that I just returned from) and will be followed up on! Mucho gracias!

The restrictions are something I think I can deal with.
    Little red meat
    High fiber
    Lots of water
Little sweets (that’s gonna be tough, as mi nombre es Daniel y yo es addictione de chocolate)
I’ll do my best. Staying properly hydrated is key.

    Hmmm
See above comments, but to expound a bit
    RX3 better wind protection.
RX3 better acceleration up to a point.
    RX3 better seat ( a little)
But, at speed, with load, the 300 air cooled single will hold speed much better
The Honda has more travel, but soft springs for my weight.
I think the XRE is a great bike. I can see why Geoff owns one.

Immigration and check in took over 4 hours in DFW. As a result, I missed tonight’s flight to CLE.
    Now I gotta hang out until a 7:05 DFW->CLE.
I’ve never seen a bigger mess at an airport in my life.
On to TGI Friday’s for food. Then camp in a chair at gate C7.
