    bike = '75 harley SX 175.

    For the unfamiliar it resembles a DT175 or any Japanese 2 stroke engine exception being the clutch.

    Anyway, I was riding along and it got locked up.

    Thinking it was the rings glued to the cylinder I poured some Marvel Mystery oil in it (about 4 tablespoons)

    Still locked so thinking it was the bearing I poured some more in there (12 tablespoons or so).

    I eventually found the problem the stator plate screws came off and it grinding against the alternator rotor.

    Anyway I know there is bunch of oil sitting in the bottom of that thing (I actually saw it since I took the head / cylinder off as well.)

    I started it up briefly after putting it all back together, and it smokes like a bitch.

    Question-- will this harm anything ? overheating maybe?

    No harm. MMO might oil foul the spark plug, but other than that it won't hurt anything, it is a "top cylinder oil" after all. The smoke will go away after a little bit.
