Noop. Too much going on lately for my little head to keep track of.

A short pencil beats a long memory though so I'll get the schedule sorted and post back up!

I'll probably be leaving around the same date, Tues, or wednesday. Heading ro Tok, to camp out, then next day to Dawson City. I have two buddies coming up from Utah on their Bmw, and Ktm's that will be arriving on Friday. We will leave the next day for Inuvik.

Plans to spend the night in Eagle seem to be underwater right now (pun intended).
Last I heard the Falcon Inn was closed from water damage.

Spending Tuesday night at Youngs into Dawson Wednesday. Look for the bikes, join us for dinner, drinks BS, Whatever.

I finally have my KLR in the condition I want it to be in.
So now I can finally do the D2D ride. (Last year I was still working on it)
But I don't really know a lot about the logistics involved.
And I have yet to do a ride longer than 200 miles.

I figure that im going to sign up though, as soon as I can figure these things out.

I ran my KLR one year, had zero issues with regarding fuel. Fuel when you can: Glenallen, Tok, and Chicken and you will be fine. Most camp in Tok on the way up and some on the way back. There are some camp spots in Dawson and you can probably still find a bed somewhere in town.

Glennallen is a good shakedown cruise out of Anchorage, so is Valdez or Tok for that matter.

I have a hotel room in the Downtown Hotel and my roommate can't make it. If anyone wants to split the room it has two beds. Just hit me up. My plan is to leave Wed. and ride straight through, but my leave starts on Tuesday so being flexible.

Alaska is cold, so far I estimate a 220+ fuel range on my 13 KLR so you are good on fuel. The longest stretch is Chicken to Dawson at about 160ish I think. I think I can make it from Tok to Dawson on a tank. If I ride the Tiger I am going to try that since its set up to carry an extra gallon.

Tok to Chicken is 80 miles, Chicken to Dawson is 110 miles

As always leaving Anchorage on Tues around 7pm and napping in Tok prior to breakfast at Fast Eddies and heading up. Pie in Chicken (Old Chicken never the New 2 Story) and a easy ride in for lunch at Kate's.

Everyone needs to be made aware of Susan, of the old original Chicken. First turn to the right as you come down the hill into Chicken from Tok. Sign for airport at the turn.

Susan has been a big time supporter and sponsor of D2D from the get go!

Susan is facing some tough times as Holland America is flying more guests in and out of Dawson instead of busing over the Top of the World.

She makes all her goodies fresh everymorning, (very early in the morning) and I have been there many times for that with Jack still surging through my veins and the need for fresh coffee and bailys.

Which weekend in June does D2D event usually take place?? Is there a specific by-law for that or it changes from year to year?

The dates change-the days stay the same.

That allows the good citizans of Dawson to keep the virgins indoors, stock the beer shelves, tighten up the slot machines, hire extra bar tenders, assign an extra detail of mounties, and give Dawson Dick a fresh supply of Prozac.

AND.....You get the longest day of the year (usually)

OH Yeah....It's when Fighter has his week vacation.

Quality Asphalt Paving is currently working on the road from the Jack Wade Junction (Eagle Turnoff) to just over the border... first 3 miles will be under excavation for sure during our run. Eventually, next year this section of highway will be paved! We're losing another beautiful piece of dirt highway people... enjoy it while you can.:cry

Count me in to ride the Dalton after the.... gathering! I'm off work till the 26th. I can't think of anything better to do than ride as far north as possible in an attempt to delay real life. If the weather is terrible, I'll settle for a casual ride of the Denali Highway on the way back to Anchorage. :rofl

I am also finally able to say I can go to D2D. It'll be my last summer in AK for a while though. Glad to see your name on the list. :beer
