That shouldn't be a problem.
Well, I'm on my way as planned. Did a big mile day (985). Had a mix of weather, from sunny to hard rain, Tornado's, to cold rain. Had 6 or so storm chaser's pass me doing 80+.. You really never want to be going the same way they are..
Sitting in my cabin at the KOA in Jamestown N.D.
I am all packed up and heading north tomorrow Smittly, keep an eye out as you get further in to Canauck land hopefully our plans will coincide
PS no Tornadoes here in the Rockies a sprinkling of white stuff above 7000' on the way to work this morning, but the weather has been clear and warm slightly below seasonal but very comfortable riding
In Telluride, CO tonight. A couple detours due to closed roads but I've really enjoyed the roads from Taos to Durango to Telluride. Great canyon riding!
In the AM I'll go have a closer look at Black Bear Road... Even from here it looks scary! Still have to decide on W or N tomorrow.
Be safe out there!
God damnit... no D2D for me. My wheel is dented.
No idea. I commute daily with my bike and had just got back into town when I made a sharp turn and the front felt really fucking weird so I stopped and noticed the front tire was extremely low on pressure. I made it back home and took the wheel off and brought it to the dealer so I could make use of my wheel and tire warranty I bought with the bike. I just thought it was a flat but they called me back saying the tire was fine and the rim of the wheel was bent and not sealing. For some reason they said they needed the whole bike so I had to grab the wheel, put it back on the bike, and use BMW roadside assistance to get it towed to the dealer. I don't know how it was bent to begin with, probably a pothole.
Hey Smitty we are in prince George. Were are you
BTDT in Death Valley, except that i FULL well knew how I dented the wheel. Baby head, 45 mph, bad line...
Any way, Fairbanks? Got alternate transport? LOANER FROM THE STEALERSHIP? Come anyway. Kiss the Dick, have some drinks, stay up all night and get your sticker. Party and have fun, even if you have to cage it. It's not a rally, eh, it's a gathering. No one cares how you get there, just get there.
Heading North -
Left St George/Ivins after work at 3:30 pm. Called it after a hot ride to Ely, NV. HIt it today from Ely, NV to Ontario, OR, snagged a room at a mom and pop and ordered pizza.
Tomorrow, Ontario to Omak, WA.
I'm in Shelby Montana. Having a blast. was going to do some big mile days to be in Dawson on the 15th, but having too much fun finding little roads and roadside attractions. Actually hiked about 3 miles today around the Bear Paw Battlefield where Chief Joseph finally gave up in 1877.
Have to figure out a route for tomorrow. Google is saying straight up thru Calgary and the Alcan but thinking I may run a little further west on 2 and ride some of the Butler Map routes around Libby and Troy, MT, then turn north.
Need to send Smitty a note! I'm not going to be in Dawson by the 15th!!
Also, more swag in the mail, should be there tomorrow. Tshirt and hat courtesy of Bentonville BMW in Bentonville, AR.
I'm leaving Vermillion AB as we speak. Will be in Dawson Creek around 1 pm
Is the road to forty mile off the TOW Highway passable? And is it worth the 90km round trip?
Tried and tried but nope! Im out this year. Have fun. Go fast. Take chances.
Bummer We will somehow manage without your smiling face Don't spend too much time on the rails this summer.
Weather up this way has, to say the least, not been outstanding. Cool, wet. Snow down low on surrounding mountains.
Advise bringing rain gear, thermal underwear, and - since it changes by the minute - tanning lotion.
Y'all have fun. Wish I were going this year.
Spot on with the weather forecast.
Williams Lake to Smithers today. Never got above 60F and we were in and out of the rain with a little sleet/hail about 35 miles East of Smithers. Not really too bad, with the rain being mostly on the edge of the cells, not running thru the middle of them. Typical for June in BC. The Yellowhead Hwy has always meant rain and cool for me, but maybe I'm just lucky?
Running up to Hyder tomorrow, short day so we have time for lunch at The Bus and to visit friends. As well as check out the changes now that the main street is "paved" and the owner of the Sealaska has passed away. Haven't been up since '11.
Cee and I are not going to make it despite trying several angles.
Time got squeezed with out-of-state-friends and family on either
end so we thought, ok, Cee will fly the plane there instead since its
a 2+ hr run from Fairbanks. But the plane has come down with a
bad cylinder. darn. second one. (cutting into my bike budget...)
anyone got a cylinder for an O-360-A1A ?
So what's the big deal being down a cylinder or two?
It's not like you use ALL the cylinders at the same time.
Just run a little higher RPM to compensate for the dead holes.
Those airtractors are overbuilt, got plenty of fudge factor engineered in.
