From my "how to stay safe in bear country" booklet that I picked up in Tok, I believe in 2012,that i brought with me...."do not approach the bear. Stay in your vehicle". Perhaps I should review those instructions ....
For your entertainment. Grizzlies speed 30+ mph. Keep 1/4 mile distance. What does your "Tok" book say? George
Absolutely. As a matter of fact if you are walking, or on a bicycle you have to use the pedestrian gate. 7000 volts, at low amps in the Texas Gate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
George, great video you posted up about wildlife. That's why you are Old Lion! I will be more careful next time.
theshnizzle and I parted ways again yesterday morning - I think I'm a little to slow in the mornings, hahaha. We both rode to Prince Rupert, however I had to change the low beam bulb in Big Ethel before getting on the road, and I stopped frequently to take pictures. We gave eachother a wave as we passed in opposite directions about 50kms out of Prince Rupert. I toured the area, trying to get as close as possible to the Pacific Ocean, alas a photo from a distance was the best I could do. Some highlights Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Getting closer to Dawson. https://ja4ja.wordpress.com/2012/06/20/what-is-the-d2d-in-dawson-city-a-bit-of-history/ AirHawk https://airhawk.net/dealer-locator/ A small bungee across the back end of the seat holding down a folded towel stretched along the seat of my DR650 does the job for me. On the HD Sportster it takes an AirHawk atop a Saddlemen pad. (lol) George @theshnizzle
I went to Canadian tire this am and bought a car gel seat on sale I intend to cannabilize. I DID have my fleece sweater underneath me just tucked in under my bag and then I got onto a section of the cassia that would have been better run standing up but I couldn't since I didn't want to loose my sweater.
Thanks for the info George but I really hesitate to buy a brand new one. ..they are expensive up here....and I have one at home....
Can you have Mr Shnizzle ship it to a post office "poste restante" on the return route? If that is what is called in Canada. Consider calling the targeted post office to ascertain if the service is offered and how to address the package. George
The Canadian tire gel pads are popular on many forums. Should help out, good luck and keep us posted how the trek is going. Fun to follow along from home.
I have been in Whitehorse for 2 days. Beauty weather, almost too hot! where Joe and I reconnected. He has hooked up with another rider so 3 of us are sharing a site. I am in the sun reading and they went off to try and ride the south canola road which is reportedly closed. I bought a car gel seat pad from cnd tire, used my sheepie as a bit of a template and constructed a seat pad. I haven't tried it out yet. I will leave here tomorrow am. I wanted to leave this am but cold and steady tain all day in to and chicken. I prefer to not ride top of the world in the cold and wet. I know my limits and doing it solo I don't want to get in over my head. Pics are taking to long to post here. Will post later.
That's some touratech s**t right there! The quality...the craftsmanship. ...the the attention to detail.....
