    I am on the way...

    Sorta...

I took a detour to see Beartooth again and some other roads.

If I dont have any snafus or I dont get lazy I should be there.

Well that's seems a bit more definitive. I was hoping to go a ride that loop (Whitehorse-Johnsons Crossing-Faro-Whitehorse) on my days off. Hummmmm

Well here's the toughest itinerary yet. I get on a big ole Alaska Airlines plane in an hour. Fly to Anchorage to be met by Griz driving Fighter's van. Remember, nothing out performs a loaner and Griz says he's going to beat the hell out of that thing. We'll spend two nights enjoying the hospitality and booze of USBYGS and gathering SWAG to be given to those who attend the banquet (at least the stuff we don't sell in Chicken). Then we are off to Dawson where we will enjoy the festivities and drink The Dick out of house and home. Then retrace our steps back to Anchorage with a stop to participate in the dedication of the new "Jim's Tree" memorial (remarkable work fellas). And finally, yet again make the arduous flight back to the states. Only one question remains... should I drink Irish or Scotch on the flights?

Not sure why you need 2 days in town.
You should roll to Tok tomorrow and arrive Dawson Wednesday PM.
    Just sayin'

Dang I thought I was the only one up this early. In the past Susan has her own design in Chicken, I don't know about this year.

Packing the bike up today! I believe the Kenai crew is headed out in the morning.... I drove back from Fairbanks in the cage on Sunday...and must have seen 50-60 BMW's and other adventure bikes on the road...all headed North. I wondered how many were making their way to Dawson?!?

    Reminder:

The Border Crossing on the Top of the World Highway has open hours between 8:00a and 8:00p for those coming from the Alaska side. 9a-9p for the ride back.

I contacted highways to ask why it was closed. The replied that as of today the South Canol is OPEN

Jeff, I hope you have better luck there than your 'short cut' last year!

I'd like to warn all riders headed north, oncoming traffic can be very inconsiderate the odd time. This Sunday I was 2nd on scene of a solo rider and his BMW, he had been riding the left gravel free track and had to move out of the way for a on-coming large RV. He told me this himself when I'd first arrived on my bike. He died road side from his head injuries.

Not to be a downer, just to please be careful with that careless driver found on northern Canadian roads - emergency services take a long to arrive. No I need to figure out the best way to attach milk crates to my KLR for a overnight visit to D2D?

A good reminder as many of us are heading out the door. State Trooper presence in Alaska has been pretty scarce with all the budget cuts....and the idiots in cages seem to know it. In addition, the tourists in rental cars and rental RV's are especially thick this year. Good for our economy, bad for road conditions.
