Anyone planning a run up the Dempster to Tuk around D2D date? Either before or after looking for some company.

    Thanks

Maybe thinking of going after D2D 23rd 24th but may let the weather decide it. I’m pretty flexible with before or after.

I like overshooting Dawson and hitting D2D on the way home. So I'm voting for before.

After D2D, cause I want to give the mosquitoes more time to grow bigger.

One main reason to do the Dempster after is you may get caught on the wrong side of the ferry IF the weather or the ferry goes bad and you'll miss the D2D...just saying..?

In August 2016 there were significant rains that closed the road, caused washouts and because the river was flowing harder with debris the ferry was suspended. I made it up to the Arctic Circle after the road opened and encountered areas that were newly graded just enough to make passable, and hung out in Eagle Plaines where cars and trucks were stacked up waiting for the ferry to resume service. In this case, it was down for two days. I didn’t go farther and returned to Dawson. I’m hoping June this year will be dryer.

2012 was the same, people got caught.....we were going north.....I never risked it seeing as we rode from Toronto area and figured if you ride that distance to attend an event why on earth would you risk it?

Is there a place in Dawson to give the bike at least a good rinse down?

If you're staying at the Bunkhouse the owner has a pressure washing station behind the building for guest to use.

I’m camping at the Goldrush. Maybe I can shoot him a few bucks for a short one time use

The Dick has a hose and it runs on better red wines.

There's also normally a wash station set up in the far left corner of the hotel lot where the games are held.

The bunkhouse had a pressure washer for use by their guests last summer.

I sarted a thread a couple months ago about this. I will be heading to Tuk after D2d. There are quite a few more folks headed up there before D2D than after it seems.

I like the idea of trying to get a group together to head north AFTER D2D. Someone in this thread already pointed out the wisdom of after vs. before. It was a convincing argument and I'm in the After Camp Now.

I'm sure there will be at least a few people leaving around the same time to head up. I'm happy to ride in a group if other people are interested in riding in a a similar schedule/speed etc.
