Don D. and I are leaving Anchorage around 9am. Yellow 1200gs and, well, I haven't a clue what color Don's bike is. See you on the road to Tok...
two one oh and a... one two oh and a... two oh oh it's the rough mileage, Maynard. 210 from my house to Gakona 120 from Gakona to Tok 200 from Tok to Dawson. Round numbers. Got the tire changed on the 950 and it made it home in the trunk of my car w/ no drama. Thanks to Barb for the smokin' deal on the replacement for my smoked, ripped, zero mile TKC-80 ! Got the XT-225 ready w/ a zootier exhaust, cargo plate and wrist wrest. Ready ! ...except for the packing part. That'll happen 30 minutes before liftoff.
Leaving Bellingham, WA in the morning (6/12) for Dawson. The ride down was 3100 miles, those dam detours, ride back will be shorter. See ya all on Thursday!
We just seperated from the local Ptero's who are heading for the Haul Road at Delta Junction. We are now sitting in Beaver creek. The ride over Denali Hwy was spectacular. Gusgus and Friar met up with us this morning at the gracious house. All is good. Nice to be on the road again. Be in the states in about 4-5 days. PS: thanks to Barb for getting Fite such a furry mount. We are having a great time with that and he spends a lot of time petting and grooming it... No More Mondays - glad I don't have to do it until August...
Geez, I didn't know the Turtle Club was 10 miles north of Fairbanks in Fox!!! I arrived after the dining area closed and went to the Red Dog for Karen's Fish Taco's and a light discussion with Lori & Dan. Was that Mount McKinley shining in the distance under the haze? Anyhow, I'm staying at Go North Hostel and tomorrow is a down day. Tires and a wash for the bike. And, Clothes and wash for me. Where are you going to be Tuesday Nite when you return to Fairbanks? Hope to be ready for Wednesday Ride,
:huh If true, best of luck Barb! A whole buncha GSes and a snortin' Skull-Strom arrived in FAI tonight... ate some typically awesome prime rib at the Turtle Club, then a sprint out to F.E. Gold Camp. That's a fine stretch of blacktop, for sure! Ride safely, everyone!
BB< Give me a call tomorrow morning after 08:00... let me know if there's anything I can assist you with. (907) 978-3603. Tuesday night return will be at the F.E. Gold Camp, about 15 miles up the Steese from the Turtle Club. That gang will prolly be spread out when they arrive from up north, but ?? their arrival time. There's plenty of room there, and $25 hostel rooms. I might stay there that night and ride to Tok w/ them, but I'm swamped w/ to-do's and all I do know is that I'll be in Tok by Wed night. Burke
I was going to let Barb tell the story. I stoped by AL and that's where I heard it. Speedy Recovery Barb. TR:huh
Foot is not broke, my leg is. Spiral fracture of the fibula, will find out when surgery is in a day or two. Glad I was wearing my Alpinestars Tech6's, might have been a lot worse. The topside of hard bag slammed down on my leg going 5 miles an hour in a driveway. Not quite sure what happened. They gave me morphine at the Palmer hospital and a pocket full of percs to go. Another one of my customers was in the ER with his knee torn up from a dirt bike incident in palmer. So, I don't think I'll be in Dawson. Barb
Hope you feel better...enjoy the legal narcotics Is it the same side you were gimped on last (or was it the year before?)year? To confirm...Sista Monica plugged your shop quite nicely on Saturday...
