Maybe Romo will come out of retirement .

I mean since we aren't likely to have a 2020 season he could go undefeated .

I never did jump on the Romo bandwagon. I always thought he lacked leadership qualities, which I think is more important than technical skills. I got tired of the golly-gee-shucks attitude after throwing away games. Dak is a slight improvement but not much. Dalton may be an improvement in that department but we'll likely never know, once Jones gives in to the salary demands. If that happens, the future looks dim. Hopefully, he learned his lesson after overpaying Elliott.

Read that Dak is seeking $175 Million over 5 year. ]Silly, stupid money. If Jerry pays it he is a fool. But we know Jerry, he is a fool.

With that sort of contract, it doesn't leave much for the rest of the roster. Good way to cripple a team.

I hate the way the NFL is going, money wise.

Jerry could probably pay that with his youthful roster, but in a couple of years (or less) he would lose all his good young talent as their contracts mature. It would be the kiss of death; Dak is lightning in a bottle, but when the point really matters he does not make the difference. He does not have the mettle as some of the great QB's who have worn the star. Regardless of how stout his preseason stats are.

Unless he can lobby to get the cap increased significantly......

Being reported that Dak has signed a one year franchise deal for $31.5 million. He simply isn't worth that, his stats bear that out, as well as his actual play on the field. all the talent on that team last year, they miss the playoffs and have a very inferior season. New coach, yeah, maybe.

They’ll both have one more year to figure out if he’s worth it....assuming they are playing this year.

As a loooong suffering Vikings fan I can safely say it’s a wash. If you don’t pay, you have to roll the dice on developing a new QB (and there aren’t loads of Mahomes clones about there). So they pay and hope that the stars align and Captain Kirk domes up with another Kobiyashi Maru save. I think they overpaid but that’s just me.
I think the Cowboys are in the same boat. A good (not great) QB who wants great QB money. Like Cousins, he’s not worth the money, but good enough to keep. I believe Jerry is gonna wait to see if he delivers this year. I don’t think he’ll pay up unless the Boys go deeeep into the playoffs or the SB

The QB situation is so stupid in the league, you get paid the most not because you're the best at you position but your contract expired later than the last guy. Teams like the queens and cowboys if they pay Dak are seriously overpaying for the talent they are getting. I've heard Mahomes is looking for $40million a year, I dont think hes even worth that, Watson is expecting something close to that and hasn't even won a playoff game I think.

I dont mind guys making the huge money but prove you can drag the team atleast deep into the playoffs IE Rodgers or Brady.

Really? So when was the last time they went deep in the playoffs? Ok, I will amend my statement. This is the story for the last 20 years. Better?

Now that the Mahomes contract has set the bar, I guess we'll see just how much JJ is willing to pay Dak.
